Subject: [ Speakeasy ] Free 6.0 Service Upgrade
    From: Speakeasy Turbo Team

    Dear Steve,

We're thrilled to inform you that we are changing our 3.0/768 product to 6.0/768! Before offering this service to new customers, we're upgrading our existing 3.0/768 customers and you're the first in line!

So...what's the catch? There isn't one: no fee to upgrade, no change in your monthly service fee - all the same awesome Speakeasy services, up to double your current download speed, for the same price!

Your upgrade will occur tomorrow, 3/12/04, between 7AM and 6PM PST. Service disruption is expected to be minimal, but if your circuit is down for more than 2 hours, please first reboot your modem and then contact us immediately if this does not restore service.

If you have any questions about these improvements to your Speakeasy service, please contact our dedicated Turbo Shot specialists at 800.815.6534.

    We appreciate your business!

Speakeasy.net is the worlds largest DSL provider. Their smallest residential DSL package is 1.5/256 for $49 per month(total - no additional charges of any kind) but that price is about to be re-structured when the upgrades mentioned above are complete.

You can switch to them for no fees of any kind, they even hook you up with a rebate for the full price of the new dsl modem you get. ($200) They guarantee line speeds too!

6 Megabit for $100 USD per month... wow.

While a 6Mb package would be nice, their pricing is still a bit high. I pay $40/month for a 3.0/256 package through cable and don't have to worry about setting up filters on my phone lines.

Sorry, but I guess I'll stay where I'm at.

me too, and for about the same price. While I do love a fast connection, i'm not about to pay $100 for 6/768 DSL every month...

Well, here are a few points to consider....

1.) If you're clever, you only need to install one filter in your home. If you aren't you can simply install the ones that come with the modem for FREE, and it will take you a whole 3 minutes, so stop whining.

          2.) Speakeasy Guarantees Line Speeds.

3.) Speakeasy is one of the very few ISP's that have written in rules allowing you to distribute your connection to anyone through any method. They not only alow it, they sell Wireless access points, and Bridges, and help you troubleshoot them for free. Many cable internet connections only allow ONE PC to be connected, much less your neighbors or passersby on wireless.

4.) Speakeasy has full rebates on nearly every modem they sell, which means, you get the $200 modem (in my case) completely for free!

5.) There are no switching charges, no line charges, no setup charges, no fees of any kind.

6.) Switching to Speakeasy from cable results in 0 minutes of downtime.

7.) Switching to Speakeasy from DSL results in 5 minutes downtime, to as much as a few days. (Quest was our old provider, and they cancelled us immediatly when they got the news we were switching. Our down time was simply dependant on the 2 day Fedex shipping of the modem)

8.) $100 bucks may seem like alot, but it isn't when you consider the speeds are guaranteed, and you split it between your roomates / neighbors / etc.

As soon as they are ready to offer service at my house I'm all ready to sign up.

Until then, they do have one of the best speed tests available.
