power of mouse problem

I am using windows XP and an optical mouse. When my computer shuts down automatically, the power light in the mouse is still on. The only way i can switch off the power is by closing the power point. Please can anyone help me.

the mouse probably works on a one way link with only a ransmitter in the mouse, no reciever, so it wont know if the computer is turned off or on.
