I have recently aquired a computer and have set up Windows 2000PRO on it. (the one in the sig) I have a RCA/Thompson Cable Modem and have tried hooking it up to the ethernet card on the computer. When i do this it recognises that it is connected, but when I click on Internet Explorer it says it is offline. I have tried configuring Internet Explorer from the Internet Options menu, but it keeps asking for a proxy to connect to, but there isnt one (you dont need one). What to do? All I want is internet access.
