Can someone please tell me why a 256mb sdram pc133 stick will not work in a HP Vectra Vli8

It is really hard to say for certain without knowing what motherboard the system has, but my first guess would be that the chipset is too old to use a 256MB module. Many older chipsets have limits to memory size that need to be adhered to. If you go over that limit, the memory will not be recognized by the system.

The HP Vectra Vli8 does support 256MB modules but I'd say that the module density is either not supported or the module is faulty.
