If in the US you could get a Saphire 9800 Pro.

Yeah, for about $200 you can get a Radeon 9800PRO. Check out www.newegg.com for the lowest prices. They always ship fast too.

WEll I'd rather have a GeForce 6600GT, but they currently go for about $225 on Newegg, which is just too much. If that price drop to $210 or less it might be worth it. Otherwise, a 9800 Pro is the only viable choice, assuming you're talking about U.S. currency.

work an extra weekend or 2, scrape together an extra 20 bucks, and get the 6600GT...

It's an extra $35, and it's not that much better... It'll be an extra $20 if it drops to $210.

If you can't spend anything over $200, yeah, the 9800Pro is your best bet, unless you can find something better used in your price range. But now that the 6600GT is available in AGP format, I'd really be looking at that one instead. Granted, selection is pretty limited right now, but wait a few weeks and you should have more options, and of course (hopefully) a lower price.
