  • Shutdown message on XP

Whenever I shut down XP instead of it going directly to a shutdown I get this infernal little requester headed "Explorer.exe" with a little blue progress bar. If I click close it tells me that I will lose any unsaved work (perhaps) but if I leave it long enough the system closes anyway.

There are a few other bits and pieces of info on it but I'm sure everyone has seen it.

Why does this happen (or what is causing it)?

Your bios might not be up to standards for running XP, try flashing your bios and if that dosn't fix it then reinstall windows and see if it works then.

There is a tweak for exactly that you have to open the registry editor...once you have the regedit open browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/ and modify the key AutoEndTasks to a value of "1" close the registry reboot your computer and your all set :D
