Hello, can a cd-r be made bootable into dos as you can with a floppy disk? If so, then how?

You could technicaly make one but it would most likely not work because it doesent look for a CD, it looks for a floppy.

          Re: Bootable Cd?

My floppy drive has decided to quit on me, and I am needing to run a set of tools from dos, which I previously would have put on a win 98 bootdisk, but now I must use a cd-rom, if possible.

Try this. Not sure how well it works for installing 98, but it isn't hard to make a bootable CD and it will work fine. Just ignore this:

Yes I would certainly ignore that.

load up Nero, tell it to burn a bootable CD, point it to a working win98 boot disk. It will burn a bootable image of the floppy on the CD.
