  • Dual Network RJ-45 Jacks

If I bought a motherboard with Dual RJ-45 jacks could I use the second one for Internet Sharing over a router for another PC and have a Direct Connection to the internet with the other one? (Bareback as I call it)

If not, what is the point in having two network adapters on one motherboard?

If you;re using a router to share an internet connection, it makes more sense to get 1 with multiple ethernet ports and have all pcs directly connected. 1 use for dual ethernet would be sharing a connection with 2 pcs\networks without a router, i.e. bridging the 2 networks

Two network adapters can also mean more bandwidth for LAN file transfers. For example, if you have a gigabit switch, you could do more if you had two 10/100 connections instead of one. However, using it for Internet connection sharing or for bridging to networks is more common and more useful.
