Dual Channel inquiry

hey guys!


no prob here just a question, one of my 512mb Geil sticks was giving me ****loads of errors so I replaced it with a generic stick so now I'm running

1 x 512mb Geil PC3200 (400 MHz)
1 x 512mb generic PC3200 (400 MHz)


weird thing is that on my start up screen it tells me that I'm running dual channel mode! I thought dual channel only runs with identical sticks of ram???

is this running dual channel or is my winXP just fooling with my head??????

It is best to run dual channel memory with the exact same sticks but that doesn't mean that it won't work with different sticks and if the BIOS tells you that it's in dual channel mode then it is.
