  • Identifying RAM

Okay... lets just say from a box of ram sticks, with like for example 10 different sticks.

How would I go about identifying
    1. The ram mhz speed(ie pc2100 or 3200)
    2. The amount(256,512,1gig)

and uhhh any other things I would need to identify that I can't think of heh.

    Thanks!

    Re: Identifying RAM

See if they have any identifying stickers. If not, look at the RAM chips themselves. They might have number identifying their size. For example, if there were eight chips on the stick, and they had 32 somewhere on them, it would be a 256MB stick. If the stick itself has numbers on it, it might identify the speed. Look for the speed in either overall bandwidth (e.g. 3200 for PC3200), DDR speed (400), or speed (200).
