when xp boots up it has blue lines going vertically through the screen.
and when the graphics card drivers are installed it wont display anything when windows has loaded. the monitor turns of then on and when it comes back on its just black.

i have xp pro sp1, HIS x700pro turbo, and a HP 17"crt monitor and an Asus p5wd2 motherboard

any ideas?

Sounds like your resolution or refresh rate may be out of range for your monitor. Have you tried to restart in VGA or safe mode? (Press F8 when starting or restarting for these options). If this works then set your video options to a safe setting (try 1024x768 @ 75mhz) and restart. Good luck.

I'm curious as to how you can tell what the res and refresh are if you have no picture....?

They may be set low, but are they set to a value that the video card supports? 800x600 is a good starting place for video boards as all of them support this resolution. If you still have the problem, then you should consider farming out your parts one at a time into a known working system and see if you can figure out which one has died.
