  • KT266A vs KT333

Is it worth it to get a KT266A instead of a KT333? I'm wondering cause I need to get high qualitiy parts for as little money as possible.

In real world terms, there is about a 10fps difference.

Also the KT333 will leave extra bandwidth to the memory for DMA hardware to access it without cutting back on the cpu's use of it. :smokin:

I've used both and really KT333 isn't anything special for just an end user. Overclockers it can help if you are pushing the FSB and giving yourself more headroom.

But for general use for someone that doesn't overclock, its way not worth it

id go with the kt333 because it has extra features over the kt266a, like ata-133 etc. new hdds will come out with that and u want a board which can run it at ata-133...

check your AGP interface. I don't think KT333 supports AGP 2X right?

Wasn't a bad article but only went half way IMO as no tests were conducted where heavy hardware DMA action was happening (eg: heavy HDD activity, s/c, etc...) which is where the extra memory bandwidth would come in handy by not cutting the cpu's access down to the memory to accommodate for hardware requirements of memory bandwidth like would happen with the KT266A chipset. :smokin:
