  • WINPOPUP - Win2k equivalent?

    Hi!

Does anyone know of the equivalent to WINPOPUP for win2k?...

WINPOPUP is a program in windows ME and 98 that sends network messages in the form of a dialogue box to other computers. Very handy when you want to send a message to someone 100 metres away :-)

Windows 2000 does not come with this program and if you try to use it after copying from win 98/me it comes up with a winsock error :-(

    Can anyone help?

I know there is a DOS kind of version of it which sends messages across a network. Netsend or something I think, not 100% sure.

Does it the message popup as a dialogue box for this Netsend thing?

I just need it to send messages to computers to tell them the networks going down e.t.c

Yep, it brings up a popup message in Windows.

Windows 2000 has a default messaging system built into it. To access it, go to Computer Management in Adminstrative Tools, then go to Action - All Tasks - Send Console Message.

Then you simply put in either the workstation name or workgroup.. :)
