win xp modem problem

for some reason win xp won't recognize my modem after rebooting. sometimes even after logging off the net. i need to reinstall the driver whenever i need to use the modem. any help will be appreciated.

That happens to me as well :)

Do you have an external modem? If so, turn it on when your turn your computer on - if you turn it on after Windows has initialised the drivers, then it will not be detected. You can go into system properties and scan for new hardware, but it makes more sense to turn the modem on first ;)
