I just recieved my thermaltake volcano 7+ in the mail today and had a question regarding the heatsink. The copper fins are not straight up and down, they(all of them) are bent one way-So they look curved. (((( instead of |||||. I was wondering if it was supposed to be like this-is it harmful- or should i send the volcano 7+ back.
No announcement yet.
i think my volcano 7+ is defective

That's it and it's cause by the way the fins are lifted from the base. Skiving is what I think they call it and a few good manufacturers are now using the process which leaves a slight curve to the fins. :smokin:

I just got another one in my hot hands today and definately there is a slight curve caused by the fin lifting process but that shouldn't hurt/hinder cooling though. :smokin:
Here's a pic that shows the curve that you should have.

Well I've got mine sittin' in front of me now and mine looks even better than the one in the pic. Too bad I don't have a half decent webcam to take a pic. :(
A real shame is that I don't shave as it's a pretty good mirror too. :D
