Wiggo i know you mentioned that a cable modem connected through a LAN is faster then a USB connection. Now i perpose this quetion: does a intergrated LAN connection to your modem be faster when compared to a LAN PCI Card? :bounce:

Depends on the chip used for the LAN portion.

Sooo..what you are getting at is... that it depends on the quality of the intergrated LAN? You see the reason why i ask is because i have a choice between a AT7 or a KX7...both from ABIT. AT7 has less PCI slots but intergrated audio and lan. The KX7 has nothing intergrated but 6 PCI slots. i just wanted to find out if INtergared LAN is much better.

The intergrated nic will be fine. :smokin:

Wiggo would a PCI card affect the speed of Modem's capabilities?

Whether the nic is onboard or as an added card they both still work thru the PCI bus so there's really no difference between the 2. ;)

*Adds paw print to Wiggo's last post*

I have yet to see a difference in performance between an onboard LAN chip and the PCI card equivalent (provided of course the same chip is used).
