Is Gsata only for hard drives? Weird errors with my dvd writer

I had plugged my samsung DVD writer SH-203n into the purple gsata, and all the programs were not reading the "brand and type" of DVD writer correctly.
For example, the program that came with the DVD writer is "live firmware update". Well the live update did not recognize the correct version of the drive therefore could not update the firmware. Also, if I put a blank DVD into the drive, windows would tend to freeze and I couldn't access "My Computer"

Now that I plugged it into the regular sata drive, everything works fine and all the programs recognize the drive with the correct "brand and type"

You need to set it up in the BIOS page 81 in the manual. Mine shows up with a green typeface in the post. works fine ,recognised ok.

Hi Hudson80, just for curiosity is your PSU Corsair HX620W causing ANY noise for you in ANY situation?
