  • Help with new CPU/MB settings

OK, firstly thanks everyone for your advice
I finally splurged and got an Athlon xp 1800+ (with fan & heatsink), Asus A7V333 mb (it actually talks :p ) and 256 kingston p2700 ram. I even managed to connect it all, jump on it 'til it fit in the case and after several hours got it to start and run :)

In the BIOS it gives me three options
    manual
    1150mhz (100/33)
    1533mhz (133/33)

    Which one is best?

1150 works OK. Asusprobe reports that as its speed. Voltage thingy is happy at 13.12 (has indicator at 12v)
1533 seemed OK but Asusprobe voltage says 13.3 and ticks at me and has little red lines and says "out of threshold"

I haven't dealt with the ASUS board you have, but the Athlon XP 1800+ should be running at 1533MHz. Maybe someone like Andy who has this board could help? :?:

That's what I thought. 1150 seems a bit low, but guess what the guy in the shop said? 1150

use the "1533mhz (133/33)" option, that will run your cpu at the rated 1800+ xp speed rating :), the "1150mhz (100/33)" option is underclocking your cpu, which is not allowed here ;)
