  • GA-P35-DS4 rev 1: problem with CPU fan

I own this nice mobo, which works very well except one thing: every now and then, when booting (or rebooting) the machine, the CPU fan spins at 100% even if not needed, i.e. CPU temperature is low and would require only minimal cooling.
I tried to change the appropriate settings in the BIOS switching from AUTO CPU fan control to PWM.
I installed Easy tune but there is no way to make this app manage the fans.
The only solution is to use ICool, but, as soon as I exit it, the fan starts again to spin at maximum speed.
    Any suggestions?

    My specs are:

    C2D 6400
Akasa AK 960E PWM CPU fan
    GA-P35-DS4 rev 1
2*1 gig 667 Kingston value ram
    Sapphire HD2600 Pro 512
    Hitachi SATA II 250 gigs
    Pioneer DVDRW 212 SATA
    Akasa Power Green 500W PSU
    XP Pro SP2

    Thank you

Re: GA-P35-DS4 rev 1: problem with CPU fan

For me solution is SpeedFan. However configuration is a bit unusual.
SpeedFan detects three PMW devices. TWO of them control
CPU_FAN fan speed (pwm1 and pwm3), and one SYS_FAN2. You need
to go to Advanced tab, select IT8718F and change PWM1,2 and 3
mode to "Software controlled". Now you should be able to control full range of these fan speeds. You need to manipulate both pwm1 and pwm2 to get full range of speeds for CPU fan. My fans are both PWM fans.

if you want system auto control your cpu fan, just enable smart fan in BIOS, and setup control mode to voltage.
