Can anyone point me in the direction of a splitter for a parallel port so i can use a printer and scanner off the one parallel port?

      This should be the place.
You can buy add on cards that will supply the extra ports ya want but most scanners have a port on them to daisy chain the printer off. :smokin:

It s not a paralell splitter that you need but a switchbox. there are two types manual and automatic. the difference being the manual ones tend to be uni-directional only so they will only work with some printers [advantage is they are super cheap]. the automatic ones come are bi-directional and will automatically route whatever job to the proper device.. [they start around $40 us though not including the cost of cables]

A PCI paralell port card is a wiser investment you'll add a paralell port to your PC and each device will have its own port for half the cost of the switch box.

I'm with Wiggo. Most scanners, be it SCSI or parallel have a input and an output port on the back, so you can daisy chain devices...

Most PC shops should have them, a PCI one might set you back about $50 or so

Ok here are a couple of links for ya,
                  http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/show_product.php3?t=4 (a bit rich though)
                  http://www.eyo.com.au/items.html?CatID=7;SubCatID=64 (much better prices)

Or try one of these cheap switch boxes http://jaycarstore.webfactory.com.au...xx/XC-5062.jpg which cost around $20aus and Jaycar have them plus alot of other PC stores.
