  • .avi files!!!!!

ok....maybe someone can help me. I've got a couple of .avi files that i've downloaded and when i try to play them, on media player or real player it gives me an "error downloading codec" and then it starts playing. But, it only plays the sound, there's no video. Does someone know how i can play these files or fix media player to do it???

    Thanks!

Basically all you need to do is find out how what video codec has been used to compress them, download that and you should be fine...

If you downloaded them, my guess is they are DivX format videos. You can get a free DivX video player / codec <a href="http://download.com.com/3000-2194-10112189.html?tag=lst-0-1" target="_blank">here</a>

What kind of AVI file? a movie rip/divx or what? I'm asking because I've seen some AVI files that were movie rips with full Dolby AC3 audio on them which needed a special codec to be installed for them to run [that codec i don't think is part of the Nimo or Tsunami packs]. I think you can grab it from:

well, i used the divx program for a while and it was ok but a little unstable on my computer. However, the last avi i tired brought media player, as it's still set to do, but instead of stiopping it right away like i have been doing I let it run. It downloaded a codec, successfullly, and now all my .avi's run on media player, even the divx one's. yea!!!
