I have a maxtor 40gig ata133 and my mobo supports ata133 but it's damn sure not as fast as i thoguht it would be.

here are my benchmark results from pcmark2002:

Hard Disk Tests

Cached File Write 15.8 MB/s
Uncached File Write 13.9 MB/s
Cached File Read 6.3 MB/s
Uncached File Read 32.6 MB/s
File Copy 11.0 MB/s

what do you guys think????

ATA133 is more flash than anything else, so I really wouldn't be too concerned.
2nd I haven't benched with PCMark2002 yet (download gets corrupted each time), so I can't say how accurate PCMark is in the disk area. I don't know what filesystem you are using, but if it's NTFS, that might throw it for a loop---but this is just a guess.

Ignoring the benchmarks, how fast does it feel to you?

ignoring the benchmark...yea, it's fast enough for me, I can't say that i haven't been pleased with it. And yes, it is NTFS

Have you benched it with anything else?

no, not yet. i downloaded this powermax test application from maxtor's website but i haven't used it yet. if you have any suggestions, let me know.

There are a few here http://users.erols.com/chare/hardware.htm#bench_prog and in the section below that. ;)
