  • Firewall and ICS

Well I run WinXP Pro on one computer and Win98 on the other. They are networked and ICS is running with the Xp machine as host.

I tried using firewalls such as McAfee Firewall and Zone Alarm and I am able to access shared files with the firewall on but ICS seems to be blocked and therefore I am unable to access the web from the win98 machine.

What do I do to make ICS work behind the firewall??

Oh and does anyone have problems with Zone Alarm running on Win XP?? It seems to crash or something on me.

Alright just read the Zone Alarm FAQ and they suggest setting the security on Medium to enable ICS to work. This works which is great but am i now more vulnerable??
Are there anyways to have full security and still have ICS working?

I've never had any trouble running ZA on medium for over 2 two years now but under the security tab in ZA make sure that you have the nic that connects to your local network and ICS ticked in the advanced section, not having the nic ticked will stop any file sharing. :smokin:
