    What speed is your current modem?

    Also, I've got some relatives that cannot connect any faster that 33.6k and they are in a small, rual town. Just something to keep in mind.

        Sounds like it's your connection more than yer modem. Try replacing the line that goes from your modem to the surge protector to the wall. If that doesn't mark improvement, see of the telephone company can do anything. If not, then you're SOL.

            Don't be to surprised if another modem won't do any better as it's probably Hell$tra's phoneline quality that is the problem. :smokin:

                The Woomera is reputed to b the best one for bad conditions though I've never use 1 myself but know of a few who have and swear by them. :smokin:

                    Just thinking out loud here;
                    If your line conditions are that bad, an increase in performance is rather unlikely at any price. The most likely benefit from a costlier/better-made modem would be a decrease in the number of dropped connections.

                    You have my complete sympathy dude

                    I wonder if I could get a Woomera here stateside?

                      i do need another modem for another pc
                      so i want a modem
                      that will squesse the last bit of preformance out
                      of my bad lines
                      the phone co. is trying to improve the lines

                        Hey, I'm currently testing a Woomera for a shop in Hamilton ( a short drive for ya ;) ). If you are looking for a new modem to help as much as it can, then these are the way to go. I've gone from connecting at 46kbps to connecting at over 50kbps, and it's a much more reliable connection. They are a great little modem, and if you wanna get one, let me know and I'll give you some details.
