  • Uninstalling programs in linux...

Just wondering if there is a way to totally remove a program (apache) because i did a full install of Slackware 8.1 (and having fun with it too :)) and apache has been installed, but has been installed into /etc/apache (which i don't like it being there, im used to the conf files being /etc/httpd/ and apache being in /usr/) + i want to install the latest version of apache and if i were to upgrade those /etc/apache files would still be there and the latest version would possible use them as well so i can just delete them so i figure the easiest way is to just remove apache completely, then reinstall it and it'll go into the 'proper' dirs and then i know exactly whats installed (eg, php, https, etc)

Tah, and any other suggestions are welcome :)

Edit: been havin trouble making another user account with the useradd cmd, but bern showed me adduser which is HEAPS better...just wondering if there is a similar cmd (addgroup) or is there just groupadd (which may be as **** as useradd...)
At the request of wiggo ;)

If you installed apache during the slack install you can uninstall it with "pkgtool".
For adding new groups, try the KDE program KUser. K--->System--->KUser as root, click on the Group tab and then on Add.
