From what I can see, around ATI is supposed to be shipping them on 9/19/2002, if not a couple days earlier. You could pre-order on www.ebgames.com

 What percentage of people do you think will wait for the GeForce 5 rather than buy the 9700? Will the 5 also run in the $400 USD range?

I will wait ...i wanna see both go head ti head and see how they comapre to each other before anything happens. I think the nVidia's 5 series will be more expensive...they always are more costly that ATi.

Will the 5 also run in the 0 USD range?

The usual start off price for the latest video card has been $395 usd approx. Here that usually equates to around $975 aus. :smokin:

 I will also probably wait. If lots of people wait, ATI won't have many sales to start with. :(

I wouldn't buy a Radeon9700 or a GF5 for $400US

Prices usually drop by 10-25% a month or two after the release, I'm not going to run out & buy the first one I see.

I'll wait until I decide I need/want a new video card & then get the best price/performance/deal I can find.

waiting for the "next" thing is a fools game...there's always something better on the horizon.

I suppose that's easy for me to say since the money for my hardware rarely comes from my own pocket :D

:D Did ATI jump the gun with it's announcement that units would be shipping in 30 days? :o

nVidia's NV30 will NOT be called GeForce 5 !!!
I can't remember the URL, but nVidia publicly announced that the NV30 would not be called "GeForce5" because it does not have the same "GeForce" architecture !!!

Wiggo

That's entirely possible too. ;)

Only 17,421 with a 9700 & P4 o/cd to over 3GHz. Should be able to hit 20K. :hammer: :hammer:

C'mon, give it time.

Its top score ever on 3D Mark 2001 SE. Isn't that enough?

Nothing I've seen for too long before it was pulled from the web but there is this article @ AnandTech (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1656). ;)

I really like it when many people do reviews like that. You get a better cross section of reality.

Are they available in Australia now?

Wiggo
08-22-2002, 08:38 AM
Well it didn't flood and looks like AMD's new Athlons stole the limelight. As to when they hit Australian shores, well that could be any time in the next few months. ;)

The US, Japan and major European markets are always hit first as that's where the quick profits will be made then when supply and demand start to cool in those countries the next lot of countries on the pecking order get their turn and so on. ;)

Well they are already selling the North America version (made by ATI), i think i'll buy one in a only a few day with a new CPU too gonna buy the P4 2.4ghz and overclock it to 2.64ghz as it's the normal 10% that every P4 can be boosted out of the box. Gonna tell you how it works as soon as i gonna have the time. I hope it wont be long, but always working by this time, so it can be long tho.

You'll say i'm a foul but i like ATI and want to get THE thing! No matter if i pay too much i'm full loaded of cash by now. I can't wait to see this setup running.
