with windows 7 installation, disable floppy drives in the bios select none wherever you see floppy and then try installing it

I already did this, because after I flashed the bios the install took a very long time to come up.

try plugging you hdd's into ports 0 and 1 and plug sata dvd drive in port 5,what make of hard drives are they?

The drives had been connected into ports 0 and 1 when the problems first originated and experienced the exact same problems as they are now plugged into 7 and 8. One of the drives is a western digital, and the other is a Seagate.

tried clearing cmos? by removing mb battery for 30mins then try again

I'll give that a shot after I finish backing up one of my drives. When I do that i'll also reinstall the sata drives back to ports 0 and 1, and I forgot to mention the dvd drive is connected via ide cable.

Ok so I reset the CMOS and tried the install again. Still no go. Windows 7 keeps telling me it can't install on the drive. And I even used the ich10 drivers from the cd, and downloaded the newest ich10 drivers from the site, even though they couldnt be used by the install disk. I've been at this for 48 hours and have nothing but a corrupt disk, and a formatted drive to show for all my work. I think im just gonna return this board to newegg and get a new one.

Well I have good news now, I managed to recover my ubuntu partition and its loading as it should. Now only if I could install Windows 7...

Oh for the love of Zeus. The issue was having 2 or more drives connected while attempting to install Windows 7, I found the fix elsewhere. I can't believe that was a simple as it was. I just hope that I'll be able to load Windows 7 with both drives connected without BSODing. I'd hate to have a dual-boot system and have to reconnect and disconnect sata cables just to run Windows 7.

If your issues continue please give us your full settings from the BIOS in regards to SATA, post an image if you like. And of course mention what drives are connected to what ports as well, in case anything has changed.

If you find it wont install with both disks that is easy, install with only one and then connect your second disk and you should be fine and good to go.

Hi All,

My first post here
Regarding to this issue you need to check which HDD is first in the Bios options
Windows 7 will install only on the drive that is configurated first in the Bios
