  • Who has Mod Suggestions for an Antec SX 1240?

I'm going to buy this Antec model case, the SX1240:

I think that a blue cathode light inside this box would look cool. If I simply had a light sitting on the bottom of the case, light would pour through the front grill and the holes in the side of the doors. Anyone recommend any brands or online retailers of cathode lights I can trust?

What else should be done? This case is a solid giant, I want to make it look cool and hip, not just big and dumpy. This case is made of a thick guage of steel if that matters.

Give me suggestions for making my case really cool.

Would you consider painting that baby? Lots of room in it & no one can say it's short of drive bays.

Well for case mods I would say maybe a window kit... This one is only $20. Its "L" shaped and has 2 92mm fan slots great for ocing some more :). Then a blue cold cathode light for $26 here. Not sure how easy its going to be to cut into your case but oh well :o.

I would also like to know if the light comes out of those gills because the alienware i'm getting has the same gills... So that would look pretty cool.

Good looking windo kit there. I especially like the 2 92mm fans.

Thats what I thought when I saw it... dont have to drill holes into the window which can be a hassle. There is also a really nice case there for only $100... let me go see if I can find it again.

Aaaah ok. Here it is. No PSU but it has a pre-installed window kit with blue cathode and led fan. You can find better cases but that one looks pretty nice (at least I think it does).

Thanks for your suggestions. That cathode light seems like a good deal, but I don't think I'm too crazy about the idea of a window. This case is such a thick metal that it would be a real hassle to do it, also I think the blue light only showing through the sides and the grill would be cooler.

And YES, the light does show through the grill on these Antec Models! Here is an example:

That's why I'm interested in the cathode light, cause that's what it can look like. Although these examples use a U shaped light that can be found here:

I have some 120mm fans that I'm not using, do you think I should throw one of them on anywhere? Any other ideas would be great.

Yeah nice I will be getting one of those lights now :) (I think the cold cathode ones would work just as good). Not sure where you should stick the fan... Maybe in the top for a blowhole?

Ya could use one of those 120mm's as a blowhole on top. ;)
