Coulda fooled me - didn't know Eng was your 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) language! Judging by the way some people type and their use of punctuation and grammar, you're doing very very well.

Stuff remaining from a half year of German in early high school:

Wie gehts?

Ich bin eine bratwurst.

Ich mochter bitter the speizerkarter (excuse the lack of umlut or whatever they're called, and the crap spelling) It's supposed to mean "may I have the menu" or somethign along those lines. ;)

I too wished to learn Spanish. But not the type that's in textbooks, the type that's used by the natives of Sth America. If you know someone or are someone who has Latin American heritage, you'll understand what I mean. :)

My girl was gunna start teaching me spanish too, but alas - she broke up with me...

:hmph: Just one question?
What the hell does that mean??????
I dont fart in the bath water!!!!!!

LOL:laugh: Sorry WS, I never gave you a thought.
(Oops, digging myself in deeper now):(

When I first arrived at my duty station in West Germany (yeah, kids there were two of them back then) we had to take a basic german course.
Most GI's never cared to learn or use more than; "Eine bier bitte.".
I did attempt to go beyond that a bit - though I do not claim to speak Deutsche.
I used that phrase; "Christina fahrt ubermorgen nacht Bonn." whenever I got in over my head. Just say that - smile - and walk away.

Translation; Christina left for Bonn last night.

For some reason that phrase just stuck in my mind from the classes:D

Here's one everyone will like;

Frau Ober - bier fur alles!

Dlab'sDaughter

I speak a little bit of: German,French, swedish, Spainish.

Yeah in the Netherlands we speak DUTCH

I shall tell some words:
Food - eten
hello - hallo
earth - aarde

greetings - groetjes

I found that written dutch looks a lot like German, which made it pretty easy to read signs and such. Once you hear the words spoken, they don't sound anything like they are written. At least not to me.:p

Wiggo's-sister
01-20-2002, 11:14 AM
Your a very confused person, so that might be the problem ;)

JealousMidget
01-20-2002, 11:38 AM
I might be wrong, Mr. C., but I think "ubermorgen" is day after tomorrow. I think you meant: Christina fahrt gestern nach Bonn.

Ich mag Deutschland. I habe zweimal besucht. Das dunkleweiss bier ist sehr gut. I habe viele freunde dort. Ich mochte bald weider besuchen.

Mr. C
02-19-2002, 11:32 AM
Nah, we're relativly harmless.
Females just have a way of spin-doctoring things guys do.

:?:On the other hand, I guess I really don't know any women who are missing fingers.

OK, so maybe us men aren't totally harmless - but mostly we harm ourselves, so where's the beef?

What's that you say hon?

It's just a firecracker.

OK -OK, I'll come back in the house. Just give me a minute.

Wiggo's-sister
