  • P45T-extreme + q9550..... again :)

so the beasty has been stable at 4ghz :) thanks for the help you guys have given.

now i have a little problem due to a thread on toms hardware, seems a guy with the same board as me and an e0 stepping Q9550 is getting 4.5ghz ( 4.2ghz stable ) and well i couldn't help it but to restart the computer and hit the delete key :S

this is where i'm at :-
    bios
    vcore 1.362v
    cpu term 1.28v
    cpu pll 1.58v
    mch core 1.30v
    ram 3.33D @ 1.7v

but in trying to run intelburn test it rebooted ( don't know when i went potty while waiting LOL ) this was the present in the event log:-

    4.2ghz q9550 495*8.5 stable - 22893 3dmark06
    3.3ghz q8200 475*7 stable

Post your full system settings. Anything over 450fsb you need to mess with CPU Reference and MCH Reference.

If you go to System from Control Panel then click Advanced System settings on the side of the window. Then make sure the Advanced Tab is selected then click settings under Startup and recovery down at the bottom. Uncheck automatically restart. This will alow you to see the BSOD screen.

At the bottom of my sig you will find error codes and their correction.

      will post that info :)
did a itb run at normal ... my run at 4ghz was avg 54 gflops, this one though failed with 47
is it possible the vcore dropping below 1.25 and ending the test?

What is vcore during IBT @ 4GHz?
Try to drop CPU ratio to 8 and run the same FSB.

ran ibt @ 4.1 got ( stop: 0x00000124 ) which is vvt voltage... mines at 1.28 so she'll go up a click :)

the 4ghz ibt run vcore would drop to 1.25v

MCH and CPU erference are both still on auto, adjusting those may help with lower VTT.
                Over 0.1v vdroop :-/

so vcore to 1.37 to adjust for droop
cpu term to 1.32 ( that is vtt isn't it? )

and ibt was holding BUT.... check out the gflops wtf?

                    Re: P45T-extreme + q9550..... again :)

                    Yes CPU Termination is VTT.
I suggest adjusting MCH/CPU reference, you may try to increase VTT even more and may help or not however adjusting the reference targets the problem where it realy is (either MCH and/or CPU reference) unlike VTT that is changed for both.
                    Try MCH Reference first.
                    To adjust reference voltage:
                    1. Set VTT to 1.3v.
                    2. Set the reference to it's desired value.
                    3. Set VTT back to it's original value (reference voltages will scale with VTT)

Try 1 to 4 ticks above and below the default reference value (the value on the left)

                      Re: P45T-extreme + q9550..... again :)

                      vvt @ 1.34
                      ref 1 @ .85
                      ref 2 @ .88

                      mch up to 1.34
and the gflops are up to where they should be but still failed on second run
is mobo temp tmpin2 a problem? ( would that be north bridge )

Are those reference values at 1.2v VTT or for the targer 1.34v?
Doesn't this board has a massive HS for the NB and everything else?
                        Try some more vcore.

                              Re: P45T-extreme + q9550..... again :)

those refs were 60% and 64% of vtt as per bios template.... and were within 4 clicks up from stock so thought i'd give them a shot...
played bfbc2 all night then a bsod in the last round ( 0x00000124 ) made me reset back to 4ghz.. then had a giggle and with the 4ghz settings clicked pci up to 102 and set ram at 5-7-5-16 @ 1583mhz, not only did it boot but pulled 22023 on 3dmark before bsod ( ram timings )

anyway on the refs i'm a little confused:-
                              set vtt mobo stock
                              set refs mobo stock
                              then up vtt ???

is that right so when i change vtt the refs change but stay within x%?

yes this mobo has the big nb heatsink and whole system is watercooled. am i being too soft with the voltages?
