Passion Pink or a Virbrant Yellow is fine..........

No actually black is nice though when you want the light on it makes your room a bit dark. I have kind of gotten accustomed to white walls for some reason. All though they get dirty the quickest. Like it matters?

Mingus
09-09-2002, 01:41 PM
Itīs not overdone in the sense that I have all sorts of extraneous cables jsut to make it look *****in. It is more than most people would need in their houses, but hey, If your going to go, you may as well go all out :D

My 48 port hubble patch panel is quite handy, because I have a ton of cat5 runs in my appt., and this way, I can easily patch the various locations into the appropriate switch.

I have a lot of LAN parties at my house, and lots of my buddies bring two computers, and use one just for web browsing and icq, while they want a fast connection on one to transfer files and whatnot.

The patch panel makes it cake to switch people around from switch to switch.

ReSpAwN DeMoN
09-09-2002, 08:29 PM
oh well if you have lots of lan parties then ya that's a different story I was gonna say there are 5 people in my house 6 computers is there a need for a 24 port hub? lol I have a 4 port router and a 5 port hub. ;)

everyone seems to love those cases. and all these companies just keep making them except with a bit of a different design to it. Its like its the new standard for cases. I personally can't stand them.

pga1234
10-04-2002, 01:11 PM
Hey respawn, are you talking about the case that I am buying? If so, I kinda like how it looks but the main reason(s) I am buying it is A. The price only $62 for a nice case not bad. and B. Great cooling possibilities without having to mod it. Anyway I havent really seen to many versions of this case that are made by any other company. It's a Chenming, alot of people mod it for simple reasons: A. It already has good cooling, which in some cases a case does not. B. The have a good shape so that you can put in a window. C. They come in alot of different colors. And like I said before: The price is right for modding.

-PGA1234

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 01:16 PM
If we're talking about the same case...............then Antec makes it and started in. Chemnig started making them also. and so does like 5 other companies that I can think of off the top of my head. Go to coolerguys.com and look at there "custom cases" they took out the entire wind tunnel series!!!!! what do they have now? THAT CASE!!!!!!!!!!!

pga1234
10-04-2002, 01:20 PM
"alot of people mod it for simple reasons".

I should have added in there "And re-sell it" but anyway yes I do know what you mean. But I know what you mean by the market being overrun by them. It does suck now you cant find too much of a variety as before. Oh well as soon as someone comes out with a different case that becomes popular these will be out and the new ones will be in.

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 01:26 PM
that's basically the only reason why I "Hate" it. Ask me to give you a reason why I hate it? And I probably can't come up with a single reason. How can you hate a computer case? But ya that's exactly why its becuase there is nothing but that case and that's all I see anymore. lol that was a reason wasn't it?

pga1234
10-04-2002, 01:32 PM
Yeah, I guess you like having a more original case over one that everyone has? Don't like following a trend. I personally would rather have a case with more character but I can't really find one I like to much that meets my reqs. Has to have good cooling. Has to have some degreee of quality. Can't be too expensive. And has to have a cover on the front. But at least this case isnt like the "Dragon" versions those are just too overdone. This is a slighty different model "Matrix" it is the same thing basically with just a different look on the front.

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 01:42 PM
you pretty much guessed it. My case is the Wind Tunnel Plus. No one and I mean NO ONE sells this case except for coolerguys.com well wait a minute. Let me rephrase that. Coolerguys.com doesn't sell it anymore because it got replaced by the case that your getting. In fact about 3 posts ago I said the entire wind tunnel line up got replaced by cases that all look the same.

http://members.fortunecity.com/respawndemon/beforeandafter.jpg

pga1234
10-04-2002, 01:47 PM
Yeah I like those cases but I just CANT stand having the drives and such sticking out like that. Just a thing I cant stand. Anyway If that case had a front cover I would have looked for one...

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 01:54 PM
What's the point in a door? In fact there was a thread that I think beefy created about all the down sides to a door. lol it was quite humorous. Its only makes things inconvient. Open door pop in cd close door. Or open cd-rom door closes by itself from the wind in the room breaks cd-rom. Hides the beauty of all the gadgets that you have? WHy would you want to hide your cd-roms? Are you embarresed of them or something? Having to hide them? Protecting it from dust? Like dust doesn't get on the "dust cover" personally I rather clean dust off a cd-rom then a door with slots in it. Cleaning dust off a flat service is a bit easier then shoving a q-tip in a slot.

pga1234
10-04-2002, 01:59 PM
Ah well I am picky when it comes to cases. I want my case to look nice. I would hate it if I had a nice Silver case and then have to buy beige or white cd-rom drives... Just personal preference really.

Mingus
10-04-2002, 02:03 PM
Im with you RD, I HATE DOORS!!

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 02:03 PM
I agree. I need things to match. And I hate dark components. Or colored components. I like my components white or beige. My speakers are black but I prefere speakers to be black I don't like white speakers. Weird huh?

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 02:18 PM
I like it black. The door was cool for me at one time but now my antec clone case is without a door its a hassle with my desk and setup...i don't dislike them just with my current desk and chair its a mission getting out of your comfortbale position to eject a cd.

But it gives it a great sleak look...and by all means if you don't have any trouble with it...you should get it.: peace2:

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 02:21 PM
sleek look? lol we're not exactly talking about a car that needs some more aerodynamic work. We're talking about a comptuer that sits there. All though it is nice to have a comptuer that look snice compared to one that doesn't. But I don't see the goodiness in it.

pga1234
10-04-2002, 02:36 PM
I could see where a door would be a pain in the @$$. If you had this case to your right it would be a pain in the @$$ to get stuff in and out. But on my desk the PC sits to the left and a door like that one really isnt a trouble at all. But if usually I was no-cd cracks for pc games to make it easier to switch between games but whatever. Like I said before everyone has there own preference of what they like. I like covers, you don't. Does it matter? Nope.

Mingus
10-04-2002, 02:39 PM
I used to have a case with a door, and I thought it would be really cool, but I burn ALOT of cd's so it was always open, and it was just kind of silly for me.

If a door turns your cranks, more power to ya, but I couldnt stand to have one on my main system ever again.

ReSpAwN DeMoN
10-04-2002, 02:41 PM
ya that kind of thing can get really annoying. Especially if you close the door and when the cd finishes it pops open the drive and breaks the cd-rom drive because it couldn't push the door open.

pga1234
10-04-2002, 02:49 PM
lol, that would really suck. Hear it clicking then it makes a loud noise then nothing. *Mumbles words that children shouldnt hear*

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 03:55 PM
SLEEK: Smooth and lustrous

With a door it look smooth and almost one piece (when closed, obviously).

pga1234
10-04-2002, 04:01 PM
THAT'S what I like. It being "Sleek". Like all one piece. I just can't stand having pieces coming out that ones beige ones white and two are silver or what not. But you can do that when you have a cover and it will look good. Cause the cover, well, covers.

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 04:22 PM
I went ahead and got a black case and took the extra effort and money on buying and finding black roms and floppy...they are every now a days...i can't stand seeing that beige stuff on a black or any other color for that matter. I'll pass thx...that why with or without a door ...my black queen looks great.

EDIT: My plextor does not eject when a cd is done...

pga1234
10-04-2002, 04:28 PM
Black Queen, lol

I don't see the point of having the CD-RW drives opening up when they are done but whatever.

If the case I am buying didn't have a cover I think I would go mad looking for drives that were silver (at a good price).

Wiggo
10-04-2002, 04:29 PM
Told ya that ya should have got the LiteOn. :D

pga1234
10-04-2002, 04:36 PM
Why, are the lite-on's better than the plextor's?

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 04:37 PM
Plextor is a very good burner and i perfer not opening its more "door friendly". Got mine in black 150 for a 40x and now they are even cheaper at newegg.com.

WiGGo- LiteOn are getting good i own one of the DVD drives...very nice and they make have a cheap 40x burner in black.

Pga- black matches with everything so my suggestion to you is that even tho you will have a door plz don't get no beige drives get them at least in black...it gives it a nice contrast just like black buttons would. Just my opinon since black bezeled drives are real cheap nowadays.

pga1234
10-04-2002, 04:45 PM
I was actually going to mod the doors. I read an article on it (can't remember link though). You pop the front covers off and paint em. I have some silver spray paint that I think might match the case pretty close. If not I will just buy some black paint...

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 05:16 PM
use primer...paint sticks on better when you have a primer base coat.

Mingus
10-04-2002, 05:16 PM
I find that if I am burning alot of cds in a row, it is handy to have it automatially pop open.

I shoudl note, that mine dosent pop open until I close the prompt from nero that my cd is done burning, so if i am not at the computer, It dosent sit open collecting dust.

FLaCo
10-04-2002, 05:18 PM
When i do multiples yes mine does open...but not a single burn...in that case you would have to leave the door open...

pga1234
10-04-2002, 05:22 PM
Aaah ok I forgot about the primer. I am also looking for some kind of sealer so it doesnt rub off when you touch it...

Came very close believe me. :hmph:

The thing is that all 3 different sticks were originally detected as PC2100 (2x PC2700 and 1x PC3200 {shows as PC2700 though}). :?:

Anyhow after several mem, cpu and v/c swaps plus 2 dozen or so CMOS clears I finally got it to fire up @ 100MHz FSB. Once that finally happened things improved at a steady but sometimes frustratin' pace but I haven't been able to stretch the memory yet but 1974MHz seems to be the CPU's limit (out of the case on a warm shelf probably doesn't help). ;)

That used to happen to me...so what i did was umm add more fans and run a Burn- In programs...to boil that bad boy up and then cooled it down then overclocked and it was a bit steadier...

Brand new HP 2400x4800 printer mid right. Monster of a case to the left (My new comp :D). Got my paintball gun (Second love) on a self-made wall hanging. CD player on the desk with not-so-legal CD's. Here's an inside view.
The 5 80mm case fans are all wired behind the mobo tray.

SileNceR
11-04-2002, 12:27 PM
why do you run your case with the side off? I'd have thought that with that case and the fans I can see mounted there that you'd get cooler temps running with the case side on than off.

E^vol
11-04-2002, 01:20 PM
Naaa...That was just for the pic. I always run it closed...I took a few first pix with a web cam that I borrowed from a friend (Hence the low quality image).
I'm gonna get a window for it soon, and either replace the 5 80mm fans with LED fans, or get a cold cathode...maybe a UV cold cathode with UV reflective paint. Not sure which way to go yet.
Here's my normal view of things.

Plus, I spend so much darn time stuck here in front of the digital prophet, so I wanted to make it as nice of an environment as possible. Well, within my means to do so. My desk has gone through many transformations, and is now very close to (if not already) a "final product" stage. If any of you guys are interested in tweaking your dual moni setup it may be worth having a look at a little program called Ultramon.

Here is a link to the site:

hmmm if my eyes see right,, ur not using that beautiful Limted Edition lian-li OMG i am dissapointed, but i like the set-up looks nice...do you have 2 different colored cold cathos b/c the sections of the glow (like bottom right is blue and top left is red) look really well done and they change like instantly (half and half no blended colors)

You are right multiple cold cathodes, only reason im using the other Lian Li is i went from the New thermaltake case which isnt as nice to this one because it just came in :) I will only use it for another week or two, expecting a new motherboard so i will go back to the orginal Lian Li my favourite :)

The 2 X Antec cases are going to become Test Beds a Athlon XP/Nforce combo and a Intel P4/ PR or Canterwood combo.

MrTweak will probably take over my current case in the coming weeks aswell :)

Generally we get to keep most hardware, say 95%.

stainX there are a few sites asking for reviewers (no pay but you keep all the stuff you get) but there are some requirements:
a) interview
b) must have 4 megapixil camera
c) must be well spoken
d) must know enough about a computer

edit**
Please delete the post above, its big, it spam and it doesn't help or relate to the topic or someone's question

Sorry dude, I can't remember you will have to find some yourself. But, don't worry there are some. Just make sure you have: a good digi-cam, vast knowledge of computers and how they work, and a good use of english.
Ok off this topic:
Does the chip-con Prometia use dual peltier or just one peltier?

Chieftec is the orginal designer of alot of the more common cases you see, Antec, ThermalTake and etc have followed the design of the orginal case that Chieftec designed.

They are excellent cases offering all the Features that cases like the Antec Performance Plus 1080 put on offer.

While i dont like the look of that case, the actual build quality/design will be excellant, it is also alot cheaper then Antecs and ThermalTakes.

6 more things
a) will a nexus fan controllor fit with the door closed
b) why dont you like it?
c) will it cool as effectivily as the mid-tower?
d) will the sounds of the fan be louder because its bigger
e) does steel cool better than alluminum? would it be a problem?
f) does the front design affect the intake, how so compared to the dragon/antec version

You will probably find it wont as it didnt in my ThermalTake.

I dont like the colour

Probaly better as it has more fans

No it shouldnt be

Steel is heavier, Alluminum is meant to dissapte heat better.

No it shouldn't, you will find its inlets are probaly the same as the others.
