ct_

right, what i mean is one on top of the other, making it twice as tall- which takes up more screen space...

Wiggo
03-04-2002, 10:06 PM
Well why not delete the doubles off the screen and for the rest make a desktop folder? ;)
<center></center>

ct_

ummmmmm - i don't wanna?

lol

and i don't have any doubles, there are a few there that i haven't moved to bookmarks yet, and may not depending on the info i find about them

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q217210&GSSNB=1

Oh, by the way, for those of us who have intricately placed icons, and find them moved by an unruly program:

woooooooh. waaaaaaaaaaaay to many icons for my liking. THe most icons I will really ever have at max is 3 rows MAYBE 4 rows. ANd if I do have that many I usually clean it up after a while.

Wiggo

Some very nice wallpapers there. :thumb:

The calendar function there was interesting and I may look into that one very soon.

But even though with all the network rebuilding that I'm doin' here atm (I'm only runnin' the default wallpapers presently) I still like to see what I have up there (hey Mr.C I find that wallpaper very appropriate on my old 133MHz AMD586 :thumb: ). Now this install is just basic atm due to a bad s/c that screwed it but this is where my short cuts go (normally twice this size). : peace2:

okay...I suck....how do I take a screen shot ?

Beefy
11-08-2002, 02:05 PM
ok, this is pretty complex, and not very logical, so I'll step you through it:

1. go to your desktop
2. press print screen (on keyboard)
3. open up graphic program (Paint will do)
4. Paste
5. Save (JPEG preferably)

Done. :)

Mingus
11-08-2002, 02:05 PM
To take a screenshot of everything hit the printscreen button, and then then open up paint, or photoshop or any image editing program, then paste er' in.

To take a shot of just one window hit Alt+Printscreen, and the window you have selected will be coppied to your clipboard.

AS to Sexiest....hhhmmmmmm think i wins there........and afore ya ask 'bout me programs......every worthless shortcut on ones active desktop means even longer loading time at startup & regardless of your refresh rate, longer loads when refreshing screen.........how lazy can ya be, shortcuts un-neccessary as ya can just left click on programs exe file under statup programs & drag it to start.......no need for shortcuts........& i noticed all three of you youngsters are members of the hurry up & let me just point
& click gang, as you all have your system trays at the bottom......
just a thought, but why do you suppose the are called drop/pull
down window's as opposed to drag up windows??.....try moving tray by dragging & dropping it to the top of screen and enjoy less
chance of getting carpol tunnel syndrome!!!:2cents: :woot: :wow:  :devil win

it isnt exactly a skinning program to be specific, but it is a replacement shell.
you can skin it and add in things like cpu/ram/swap utilization and other gizmos to the skin.
dont remember where exactly i downloaded it from but a good place to start is http://www.litestep.net/.

Running WinXP. The dock at the bottom is Y'z dock found here (http://news.designtechnika.com/downloads.shtml), the calendar is Rainlendar, the temperature and pc stats are a program called Samurize. Think the main site is down but you can just do a search in google and you'll find other sites that have it... Be carefull, this gets very addictive.

From the 2nd Tweak Guide http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=434&dPage=3

Create desktop icons for Shutdown or Restart

Tool: Create Shortcut Wizard

Instead of clicking Start>Turn Off Computer and selecting Shutdown or Restart, you can create desktop icons which automatically shutdown or restart your PC with just a double-click. This tweak makes use of the Shutdown.exe command to create a new shortcut as follows:

Shutdown Icon

1. Right click on an empty area on your desktop.

2. Select New>Shortcut.

3. In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard, type "Shutdown -s -t 00" (without quotes). Click Next.

4. Call the shortcut something like "Shutdown PC" (without quotes) and click Finish.

5. To add the finishing touch, right click on this new icon, select Properties, click the Change Icon button and select an appropriate icon.

Reboot Icon

Follow the same steps as for the Shutdown Icon, but substitute the following steps in place of the corresponding ones above:

3. In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard, type "Shutdown -r -t 00" (without quotes). Click Next.

4. Call the shortcut something like "Restart PC" without quotes and click Finish.

Note that double-clicking on these icons will shutdown or restart the PC straight away without any warning. If you want a countdown before a shutdown or restart, substitute a time in seconds in place of the '00' entries in the shortcut properties above (e.g. Shutdown -s -t 10 gives 10 seconds warning before shutting down). Also note that once the shutdown or restart process begins via an icon, it can't be aborted. If you want more command line switches which can be used with the shutdown command, open a command prompt and type "shutdown" (without quotes) to see the full list of switches.
