This has nothing to do with windows or the registry at all. In fact its totally related to the bios. There are some mobo manufacturers that include thie feature in there systems to hide the post information and display that screen instead. When I had my FIC mobo they did it with a fic screen I saw a biostar board and they do it with a biostar screen. If you can find a flash utility that changes/removes this screen which I think is highly unlikely then you can safely remove that screen. I did it with my Fic board A while back.

well I'm assuming that you have a computer built by IBM. So I would assume that the IBM website IF ANYTHING has this utility. However I just quikly ran by there site the only thing flash anything is fixes. For my FIC board it had a utility on the cd. That's how I remvoed that screen for me. But it may be a little different for you. Does system built machine have cd's that come with drivers or utilities? I wouldn't know cause I've never had a store bought PC before.

I have no clue. The program can be called a million different things. I guess you can email them or call them or some way to find out if they even make such a thing. Then again those blue IBM letters has been on there PC's since forever.

if IBM rebranded Intel OEM motherboards. you can try going into the bios and seeing if there is a dsiplay post messages option or a display oem boot logo option. if there is you could set either accordingly and no more ibm logo.

On one motherboard i saw an option called Extended Post Messages and if it was enabled you got rid of the boot logo and disbaled you got to look at the logo

in the bios under the start up menu option there were two options one was fast post mode which was set to auto and the other was silent boot which was set to enable so i disabled silent boot and the ibm logo is gone.
the only thing there now is a black screen with the bios version typed at the top and a message to hit f1 if i want to enter the set-up utility(bios)
is there a way now to put something else in its place or can i just boot right into windows xp or does the bios have to have time to boot?

thanks

It sounds like you are all set now.

as far as getting a different screen from your BIOS that would require modding the BIOS which is possible but not recommended.

Make a backup of your bios first, because if you screw up your motheboard is pretty much toasted....

it'll be part of the bios flash process there is a certain file that holds the image I forgot what the extension is but if you read the instructions it'll tell you to back up that file that way if you mess up you can flash your bios back.

Just get the program BootXP and you can change your boot up screen to what ever you want to. I now have SpiderMan as my boot screen cause my wife is a big fan of his.: peace2:

blkbird, he's talking about the logo of the company who made the computer that replaces the POST screen on some computers, not the Windows boot screen.. :)

Oooops sorry I was thinking boot screen, the other should be in the bios, or at least thats where I think its at on my Gateway.Could be wrong though.
If you're interested in the bootxp programs though , just do a search on yahoo and it should pop up a listing for it.:cantfocus
