I dont know any good guides,i just googled around and read what others were using in forums ect,the hardest part is working out how much all the different llc settings use to apply voltage

but generally around 1.36v is the sweet spot for 4.5ghz-4.8ghz depending on your cpu,qpi/vtt or vtt or vccio (for integrated memory controller) can be anything upto 1.2v

dram voltage can be no higher than 1.5750v on sb

and core temps no higher than 72c(opinions on this may differ,some use upto 80c) but i like to be on the safe side and limit to 72c,4.5ghz is the highest i can go using this cooler,when i do finally buy a better cooler ill push further

Are this template ok for the same MB with an i7 2700K. I have the same MB as you pos ((( PZ68-V Pro/Gen 3))) with this CPU and I,m looking to oc for the first time my SB micr and no till no experience with them.

yes should be fine,if unstable just raise cpu voltage offset slightly,you wont need above 1.36-1.38v imo for 4.5ghz,might need slight bump in vccio but not much and dont go above 1.2v for vccio and no more than 1.5750v for dram

BTW. I cant see the Load Line Calibration on your pics.. I have my bios set by default at the moment.Is in auto or turbo and it reach 4 ghz under load. My RAM is a 1.6v Gskill. and the bios read DRAM=1.615 v. Vccio= 1.062 and CPU V= 1.803. This values are default, I dinnt touch nothing.

you cant be using 1.8v for cpu it would melt

dram you can set to 1.5750v and vccio can leave as it is,check cpu voltage all you have to change with cpu voltage is set offset to + then 0.005v

The values I have are:

CPU Voltage: 1.112 v
DRAm: 1.615 to 1.6215 v
VCCIO: 1.059 to 1.062 v
CPU PLL: 1.803 V

All are by default

Let see if I understand you ... Copy all your sets in of your pics ok? and change only the DRAM to 1.5750. and CPU Voltage: 1.112 v ---set to offset and +0.005v. is that ok??

Well Wazza, I did all, and with the CPU offset atr 0.005, Win not boot ok. I increase the offset to the next step ( 0.10 I guess) and now is OK. I will check for stability. BTW what you do to acces to the primary timmings of the ram?? Im going crazy and I cant see this option !!!!I know is there but where???

Well Wozza, I did all, and with the CPU offset atr 0.005, Win not boot ok. I increase the offset to the next step ( 0.10 I guess) and now is OK. I will check for stability. BTW what you do to acces to the primary timmings of the ram?? Im going crazy and I cant see this option !!!!I know is there but where???

It's in ai tweaker then click dram timing

Ok, I find the Timming setup. I must tell you all is working very nice. at 4.5 ghz under loading. Let me ask you , will not be any better keep the 4.5 GHZ continously? even with light or not loading ??I allways did that with my old 775 system.

no your fine,and its better to use speedstep where cpu uses less speed/power at idle and full speed/power when stressed,

I have asked that couse I have read it must be very important keep that differance ( 0.5v) between both VCCIO and VDRAM. Away from that can u recomand me a good quality 2x2 gb of RAM for SB ?

Away from that can u recomand me a good quality 2x2 gb of RAM for SB ?yes your right but i dont know if it applies to sb aswell,it did for x58 boards/cpu's,if ram voltage is 1.5750 and vccio is 1.62v your within .5v so thats ok,it only if your outside of .5v

Just curious, how much voltage is the cpu using running prime95 or IBT? I gave up on the offset mode and went to manual @1.28v. CPUz says it uses ~1.288v under 100% load. Using offset mode I was running with a lot more voltage.

Same as me. In the ofset mode the CPU-Z reads Vcore 1.32 if not more or something like this

1.36v for me,probably uses more in offset to compensate for vdroop? idk,but you nearly always use slightly more,trouble with using a fixed voltage you have to run cpu at full speed/voltage all the time

im finding the new bios to be much more stable though

Yeah, but what does the cpu voltage jump to when the system is under 100% load (prime95 4-cores, 8-workers).

1.344v,i could lower llc level and use more offset but havnt really played yet,this coolers limiting me to 4.5ghz max,i hit 79c too,if i were you ken id flash to 3203 bios,i find its better

what wei you get with that ram? i got 7.9 just after updating bios but its gone back to 7.8 now,cas 9 timings though

That is why I went to setting the cpu voltage to Manual - the cpu temp went over 65C under load. Like I said above, the max voltage I see under load with the Manual setting is ~1.288V and the max cpu temp after running prime95 (4-cores, 8 workers) for several hours is 62C. I also have Load-Line Calibration set to Ultra High and Phase Control and Duty Control set to Extreme.

Works for me. I spent a lot of time several months ago when I purchased P8Z68 V-Pro/2600K trying different 4.5 GHz overclock settings. The 1.28V manual setting seemed to be the best I could do at the time to get a very stable system that did not generate excessive cpu temps under load. I problably could run with a little less cpu voltage but have not taken the time to find the optimal settings. I have been chasing too many other "minor" issues like: BIOS updates and BIOS reported cpu temp versus CoreTemp, AISuite unable to uninstall or update properly, the Intel 82579V wake up issue, Nvidia/Realtek Audio conflict, USB 3.0/Corsair Case problems, Lucid Virtu/Quick Sync/Cuda issues and the list goes on. It would be nice if this forum could get an active crew working on the ASUS stuff. Trying to get anything resolved on the ASUS Forum is next to impossible. ProfJim where are you!

those temps i quoted were with intel burn test 10runs on maximum,prime95 doesnt get as hot,never had any issues with mine s3 sleep/resume works fine havnt used lucid/usb3 though

plus you never said what wei score you get with your ram? just curious,and i like my cpu voltage to drop when idle hence using offset

i found if you disable memory remap in the bios you get full 7.9 score in windows,if its enabled it will only score 7.8 for some reason

A new preoblem start yesterday. With any reason on my first boot in the morning , I get this mensage" read disk error" ... with no Win loading of course. I enter in the bios, I only check all, ( all seems ok) and once I reboot all works fine ( two days with this history) . Any idea??

PS: Vcore under prime95 and CPU-Z= 1.336 to some picks 1.344

Yes. only happens in my dayly first boot in the morning. I have increased one step ahead on my Vcore offset, may be is an oc issue. Let see tomorrow..

if using a 2500k chip you will probably need less cpu voltage/voltage offset due to no multithreading ect

Well Wazza, this morning on my first boot I get the same problem even with VCCIO 1.06. At this point, I switch off the pc and I re-install my old RAM ( 2X2 GB g.sKILL 1600) and bingo!! the pc starts normally. The problem is this 2x4gb.. At this point I dont know what I can do. Will help go from 1T like is set now to 2T ?? .Any idea??

you can use upto 1.5750v for your dram voltage,it might be that instead of vccio voltage,maybe it needs more from a cold boot up?

Let me see tomorrow if with 2T it boot ok or not. Away from that I have search GSkill web for this RAM, and the factory settings are 8-8-8-24 with the command rate at 2T.

it thats correct you just simply might need more one or two clicks on both dram and vccio for 1t command rate

My vccio in set manually to 1.06, and the vdram, is 1.50. I will try what you say, icrease both just a litlle.

I finally keep VCCIO at 1.06 and the VDRAM 1.537 with the command rate at 1T and is very stable and boot ok.

i got them from us and uk,but they are on newegg or ebay.look around for the best price,ive seen them range from $33-$49,no heatsinks they dont get hot anyway,its 30nm manufacture ,im at 2133mhz with just 1.45v dram voltage

Hi Wazza ,. I been expriencing a new thing with the 1T setting and the coldboot. The boot in this equipment is very fast, but very. On some coldboots when the Wind 7. gadgets sidebar is loading one of the gadgets dont appears and I need use the commands ctrl+alt+del . to can stop de gadgets process and now manually call them in the screen again. Doing that the "missed" gadget come again with all. It seems the boot is so fast than this particular gadget keeps loading on a coldboot or is corrupting somthing. Funny thing...

im using 1.63v dram voltage for 9-10-10-28-1t @2133mhz,you could use less dram voltage if you loosened timings,i thought i was stable at 1.45v dram but wasnt stable in super pi 32m test

Very interesting, again thanks. BTW I have ask in Overclockers.uk about this ram,s and is something crazy!! They want 15 pounds for shipment to Spain by air mail... no sense of course.. 15 pounds just for an envelope with the blister and two stamps on!!

Yes. Much cheaper at least from this end. Its ridiculous pay 15 pounds for normal air mail...for just an envelope with only few grams of wheigt.

i bought one kit from here and one from the u.s,trouble with ebay they wouldnt mark it as gift so incured customs fees,worked out the same price as buying from here

I stil have some coldboot errors !! And I have increased the ofset today to 0.015 just to check if exist any realation, but 0.010 is 100% stable under Prime.

yeah,they are using a x79 board though with an Intel i7 3960X chip,they have much better memory controllers built into them than the 2500/2600/2700k chips thats why hes hitting 2400mhz with only 1.5v dram voltage,for you and me we need to wait for ivy bridge cpu's to match or even better those speeds as they will have even better imc's (internal memory controllers)

All c1e states are left on auto,vccio is stock 1.05v dram is 1.63125v ram speed is 2133mhz 9-10-10-28-1t

When I load optimal settings the C6 in my MB reads enabled. C1E and C3 are set in AUTO. If I set C6 to auto the Vcore in Iddle it,s higer 1 volt +. In enabled ( defalult in my MB) is below 1v. 0.995 or even lower. (0.880 v)

i havnt had time to check yet on those settings,i need to grab my memory stick aswell,has your ram arrived?played abit more and got super pi stable with 1.625 dram voltage @2133mhz

I have receive the RAM this morning. Zero Extra-money!! Well I set them temporary with 8-9-9-24 1T at 1866.. Vdram= 1.50 v Vccio in auto. Next step will be 2133 like you. I hope 1.63125 v don,t damage the RAM.

i think youll be fine at 1.63v,ive been running mine for a few weeks and its been ok

you need to download super pi and do a 32m run,if it passes its stable if not add one click on dram voltage and retest untill it passes,i thought i was stable at 1.45v @2133mhz but i wasnt

Im still using this ram at 1866... with 1.5 v- absolutely great.Next step will be 2133 . I read some people talking about 10-10-10-28 1T with 1.55 at 2133... would have to see that.

Wazza will you please explain how you take this screenshots from the bios?, and away from that I see this= 1.625 v-1.053= 0.575 V . It,s not dangerous ? Will be not any better raise the VCCIO a little just to keep this diference in 0.450 V ??

I don't think it applies to z68 not sure,if your worried just raise vccio a little

For screenshots just plug in a Usb memory stick and press f12 to take a picture of the screen and it saves it to the memory stick,I used a Kingston datatraveler stick

Well I said that couse I have read this advice in many oc guides. I have try to set at 2133 10-10-10-28 1T with 1.55 Vdram, and no problems. In any event the benchmark diference 1866 8 9 9 24 and 2133 10 10 10 28 is minimal. Ok for the Bios pics , thanks.

Does it pass super pi 32m run? Try and see,yes that rule applies to x58 but I think because your not overclocking the bclk on z68 it doesn't matter? I'll try and find out

your using a 2700k chip,they must have slightly better imc controllers as i cant get super pi stable at 1.55v dram voltage,ive raise vccio voltage so that im within .5v

EDIT: i raised vccio to 1.13125v,kept dram voltage on 1.6250v and it wouldnt pass super pi 32m,lowered vccio back to stock 1.05v and it passed!!!! i think its fine as your not overclocking the cpu through the bclk

have you tried 2400mhz? you might have better luck than me with that chip

it has to be your chip,mine just wont pass with anything less than 1.625v dram,i could loosen the timings and lower dram voltage but im not going to,try 2400mhz :bdaybiggr i know x79 cpu's can run that speed with 1.55v dram

you might need to run 10-10-10-28-2t at 2400mhz though,or 11-11-11-30-2t

I think Wazza 1866 or 2133 make the job very well and as you see in the benchmarks the numbers are very close between. I will keep 1866 for 24/7 with only 1.50 v. beacouse 1.55 v at 2133 its almoust the same,

yes your right you can safely use upto 1.575 dram voltage though so dont be scared to use more,you have a better memory controller on 2700k chips i think,i cant run with those voltages at 2133mhz

I keep at least temporary to check coldboots and stability the 2133 Mhz config, 9-10-10-28 1T with 1.55 vdram and for the moment seem very stable. Good coldboots and operation, let see in a few days..

I must to say Wazza, after some period using this RAM,s Im more than happy. No more coldboot issues and using the kit at 2133mhz with 1.55 vdram and cant work any better.Nice, nice memorys.

You know what I did? I installed the Artic Cooler ( RC Pro) heatsinks ram coolers for this sticks. it really dont need but the aesthetics is much better,

Yes you stick de RC plates individually to both sides of the RAM boards. Very easy to do. Is just a question of aesthetics.

Wazza I need your help. I have the exact same motherboard and chip. 8 gigs of ram and a corsair h60 water cooler. I have built dozens of pcs since the mid 90s but I dont know a thing about overclocking. So honestly I have avoided. Up until I made this build. This motherboard came with a little tool named AI suite.... Which claimed it could overclock for you with just a click. So I figured what the hell. I did the turbo V auto tuning. After several reboots and one failed attempt it had determine itself the magic OC number was some where around 4.5 Ghz............4.588 or something...........Anywho...............I tried out some games and it did feel like it was oced. I could even hit the "monitor" down in ai suite and it would give me this oc'ed number. Then all of a sudden, I'm thinking a week or so later. Its like it just wore off or something. The monitor would just show the stock 3.4 and the games did seem to feel less then they were. So I fired this app up again and this time it never stops anymore..........it goes and goes and goes.....up to like 8 ghz to where it just becomes laughable and I turn it off. So obviously something in AI suite is broken. So I want to just oc with bios now and leave the "toy" alone. So I Googled and found this guide and here I am. I followed all your settings in the first post................ however system manager still tells me I am 3.4 ghz.................and the performance test in street fighter 4 still says 3.4 ghz. What am I doing wrong man? Do I need to uninstall/remove AI suite? Then do all your settings again? Does OC's show in windows like in device manager? Let me know, thx.

best way to see if cpu is clocked correctly is download install cpu-z

Ok Wazza. When it first boots up it shows the 4.5 ghz then after a sec will drop down to 1600 like you said it would in CPU-Z. Once I ran prime 95 and did a test it locked up and BSOD. This is typical OC trial and error right? Now what? I used your 4.5 OC guide setting for setting. My board may not be the exact you have. Its P8 Z68-v/GEN3

there will be some differences due to each chip needing more or less voltage ect,you could set cpu offset to +10 or +15 and retest,dram should be around 1.5-1.55v,vccio should be fine at stock 1.05v

did you set the timings according to your ram? it will be printed on the ram itself

Updating muy post,s I must to say all coldboots are gone long time ago. The problems was my old SSD Cucial M4. No more problems with an OCZ Vertex 4. All runs very stable and solid.

do you still have your crucial m4? there was a 5400 hour use bug with that drive so you have to flash to the latest firmware and it will stop the freezing up

No Wazza, I have sold muy old M4, and the interesting thing is ... it is running very well in his new location !!! but in my PC have make feel crazy with the error " disk error " in the boot. My new Vertex4 is running superb and gave a much higher escore in the AS SSD benchamrak than the M4.I did use the good firmware with the M4. I did remove the WC system just last week and I switched to the Phanteks. I am Feeling sick and tired of the heavy job every year changing the coolant and tubes.

The question is will it run stable wiht less Vcore ??? To reduce that Vcore the best way will go to negative offset. like -0-005 for start ???

Hi Wazza. Set to sign (-) and 0.005. the Vcore under Prime load, drop to 1.320/1.312 and running Prime . At the moment no errors with 23 laps..

BTW in idle ( 1.6 ghz) Vcore drop to 0.880 0scilating to 1.008 ( plus minus )

I will gave a try, now I have 9-10-10 -28 IT , the rest of timmings all are by default.
If I drop to -010V will not produce a too low voltage on Idle??

Just curious, how much voltage is the cpu using running prime95 or IBT? I gave up on the offset mode and went to manual @1.28v. CPUz says it uses ~1.288v under 100% load. Using offset mode I was running with a lot more voltage.

did you adjust offset so that it gave you 1.288v @load?

I think for 4.5ghz I was using around 1.34v but it wasn't the best of chips,i have a 2700k now that does 4.8ghz with the same voltage ill update this thread with settings for 4.8ghz when I get time
