  • BIOS Help!

I hope somebody can help with this plea for help, I am having problems setting up my system, and thought there has got to be somebody out there who may have had the same (or similar) problem?

I am putting together an AMD "Bulldozer" FX 8150 3.60 GHz Processor, on a Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 Motherboard, with 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz ram.

The problem is I cannot get the BIOS to recognize the correct RAM memory speed, can anybody help? I must point out that I am an Absolute novice when it comes to messing about in the BIOS (hope that has not put anybody off helping).

    Thanks in anticipation

    Pete

Can you please attach a CPU-Z text report. CPU-Z -> About tab -> Save Report (.TXT), then in the forum "Go Advance" and add via manage attachments.

      Re: BIOS Help!

You probably need to raise the memory multiplier to give you 1600mhz speed,it will tell you in mb manual,I don't think xmp is supported on amd boards?

        Re: BIOS Help!

Fully working XMP (i.e. the ability to read AND set the appropriate BIOS configuration) is Intel only. However, there are many newer AMD boards that can read the spd/timing/voltage data from the eeprom, just can't use the real XMP to set it.
