  • Fan speed monitering and software anomylies.

I have the Cougar pwm fan plugged into the System 2 (4 pin) header and the max RPM never gets close to the rated 1500 rpm; was wondering what triggers the voltage change to this header, if anyone knows? I have monitored the fans with both hwinfo64 & ET6 and they both seem to agree with each other.
    cpu temps?
    system board temps?

ET6 incorrectly shows the System 1 & System 2 fans reversed.
CPU-Z shows QPI/vtt voltage instead of Vcore. CPUID hardware monitor shows the same.

Re: Fan speed monitering and software anomylies.

Sys_Fan2 is always half speed / half voltage, this is normal and how they do all boards. Not sure why, but that's how it is! So you'll need to use a different header if you want that fan to go any faster.

CPU-z and Vtt issue, I mentioned this before several times, are you using the latest BIOS and latest version of CPU-z? If you are, then you need to send a dump file to CPU-z guy at his forum, or ask Stasio where to send, so he can fix for your board model.

    Here's the latest version
CPU-Z for Windows® x86/x64 is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system : Processor name and number, codename, process, package, cache levels. Mainboard and chipset. Memory type, size, timings, and module specifications (SPD). Real time measurement of each core's internal frequency, memory frequency. CPU-Z is fully supported on Windows® 11. The CPU-Z‘s detection engine is now available for customized use through the CPUID System Information Development Kit, a professional SDK built for the Microsoft Windows & Android.

he must have asked for the reason that an older cpu-z version (v1.56 if I remember right) had the vtt issue on some boards, and it was supposed to be fixed in 1.60 ...

Yeah. I'm just ragging on LSD.
But anyway I'm quite sure CPUID is showing vtt for my board. What about yours? Does it show correctly vcore? Couldn't be that much difference between the boards.

Are there programs out there besides hwinfo that show vcore and vtt? Got me curious if any of them are showing correctly.....although hwinfo seems to be working ok.

Haha, yes, I thought I'd mentioned it a few times, but never remembered you replying, only that I kept seeing new threads with you asking about it again

No worries, and if you did reply and I missed it I'm sorry man!

Can you please post an image using the latest CPU-z, AIDA64 Sensor page, and latest Easytune Tuner tab / advanced voltage section I

You can get AIDA64 and Easytune here, be sure you grab the normal Easytune (Not AMD, X79, Z77, Ect)

For this test, please set Vcore 1.35 or 1.3. This is just so we can see what exactly is going on, thanks!

Okay, Franck will have to fix cpu-z by the looks of it.

                        from cpu-z faq:

Thanks for the verification Bookdocks, looks like only CPU-z is affected.

He may also need a CPU-z dump, not sure if HWmonitor dump is the same? If you want to send him a CPU-z dump just to be sure, you can dump it from the last tab "About" then save report txt. You could compare first, and see if they look the same, if both dump types look the same then you probably don't need to send him another one, unless he asks later.

OK, it's the same wrong reading on both cpuid utilities. I suspect I'll hear back if he needs something. Otherwise .......

You stated the System 2 fan runs half speed/voltage. So I guess cpu header and System 1 header run full voltage. What about the Power Fan header?
