My desktop was resting, I sat down and hit enter and this blue screen popped up. It says *** stop: 0x00000019. I've never seen this before and unfortunately I haven't back up in a while. I hit any key and nothing happens. Should I try to figure this out myself or call a geeksquad type of company for help? Thanks for any advise.

Re: Bsod. Bad_pool_header
When a BSOD occurs, the only options are power off your computer or press the reset button and try booting again.
Start your computer and when the BSOD happens again, take a picture of the screen and post the screen-shot.
If you can't take a picture, write down the exact error name (in the yellow box) and write down all the information in the Technical Information area in the red box.
Post the information in both boxes, accuracy is important.
Include details about where the BSOD occurs, such as at the desktop after XX minutes, while windows is starting (describe which screen), etc. After you have this information, try booting into windows SAFE mode and describe if/when the BSOD occurs.
Try booting into the bios. There might be detailed information available by pressing one of the function keys from the main bios screen. Do you know which key to press to enter the bios? I'm going to search the web for information about your system.
Avoid going to Geek Squad or any local computer tech "professionals". If you are patient, we can probably help fix your computer.
I have no experience with the quality of their work or their charges, but it might cost more than your computer is worth.
If you need to have a local "professional" fix your computer, I'm guessing that in-store labor rates are at least $75 or more per hour, probably much more.
Are there any recent hardware or software changes to your computer?
How old is your computer?

Re: Bsod. Bad_pool_header
Thank you so much for helping. I hate to sound totally clueless, but I am. I have no idea what a bios is. Also, I could not figure out how to turn off the computer, so it is still on. If u turn it off could I lose everything on it?
I bought the computer approx 3 1/2 years ago.
What I did today: I synced and backed up my iPhone and deleted an old backup.
I took my card out of my new dslr camera and loaded some pics onto comp.
I think I was on aol, also on my bank account (but logged out of it). Then I walked away from the comp for at least an hour, came back and hit enter to take it out of sleep mode and BAM there's a bright blue screen!

Re: Bsod. Bad_pool_header
Do you have a user manual for your computer?
If not, try to download a PDF copy of it.
You've provided some good information.
Turn off your computer and leave it off for 5 minutes.
Turn your computer back on and see if you can enter windows SAFE mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 once per second while your system is booting. I expect that you'll get the windows repair screen and you will have to insert the win7 installation disk to see if windows can repair itself. It will help if you first do a web search on: windows 7 startup repair guide OR tutorial
Ignore links that deal with doing a repair install.
I need to do some homework for your computer model, and I'll get back to you tomorrow evening.
Feel free to post any questions that you have.
Keep in mind that you can plug your hard drive into another computer where you can backup any files for safe keeping.Q9650 @ 4.10GHz [9x456MHz]

Re: Bsod. Bad_pool_header
You would need to remove your hard drive from your computer and then install the hard drive in a different computer.
Depending on how much data you want to back up, you would need several or many DVD's or another hard drive.
Do NOT remove your hard drive!! You need a friend who is very knowledgeable in building computers from scratch to help you.
Have you tried pressing the front panel on/off switch to turn your computer off?
Try pressing the front panel RESET button to restart your system.
You should be able to turn off your computer by pressing an on/off rocker switch that should be on the outside rear part of the power supply.
Do you know anyone who is very knowledgeable with building computer systems?
It sounds like the inside has not been cleaned out and that you might not have the most recent windows updates.
It's possible that your memory modules might need to be removed and reseated.
Don't try to do this by yourself. If you don't know exactly what your are doing, you will probably damage your computer beyond repair.
Your best option is to get a copy of the windows installation disk to try a repair your system using the installation disk.Q9650 @ 4.10GHz [9x456MHz]
