  • Low voltage affect 3d mark scores???

I ran 3DMark, and tweaked out, scored 10,000. BUT,
was running real hot. I added two fans. Got a cheap
300W power supply. Now, I run with same settings,
and only get around 5,000-6,000. Could this be because
the fans are maxing out the power supply??

I've seen it happen but never to that extent.

A couple of hundred points usually as after that I get kick out of it. :?:

        XP
        512 DDR
        Ti4200 OC'd at 280/535
        75mz refresh rate on monitor
        Athlon 1700+, set to 1400
        Directx 8.1
        anything else?

While benchmarking, all the game demo's seem
to max out around 60 fps, while previously, it
would run up to 150 fps on some of them.

Maybe you might want to double check those settings somehow as that just doesn't sound right. :smokin:

did you or anyone change the 3d mark settings?
i noticed if you drop the res it alters the score heaps.

Settings are all the same. Double checked everything.
I'll disconnect both fans, and try again.

BINGO!!!!!!! Thank you so much, I was going nuts! I turned it to "always on" per a Morrowind tweak suggestion. Now I'm back up to 10,800 after setting it to auto. Thanks again. How did you know?

I never run with the vertical sync on (synchronizes frames with the refresh rate of your screen) but it had to be a setting. :)

Vertical sync lowers your fps quite a chunk then?

It does with most but maybe with Morrowind it forces a better fps with the game. I havn't seen the game so I couldn't really say. :smokin:
