  • Front panel sound connections

    I’m building a PC by my own for the first time, but I’m having a little headache trying to install the cables of the front case MIC/Speakers line out ports (don’t laugh, it’s serious :laugh: )

    So I decided to come here for some help on the matter.

    To the point:
    My case (Fortrex Y29K) has two line-out ports. One is for the microphone and the other is for the earphones. The cable to connect to the motherboard header has five individual connectors named as following:
    MIC-IN
    MIC-GND
    R-OUT
    L-OUT
    EAR-G

    While the motherboard header (ECS K7VTA3 v3.1) has 10 pins:
    1- AUD_MIC
    2- AUD_GND
    3- AUD_MIC_BIAS
    4- AUD_VCC
    5- AUD_FPOUT_R
    6- AUD_RET_R
    7- HP_ON
    8- KEY
    9- AUD_FPOUT_L
    10- AUD_RET_L

    Sounds a little boring, but I don’t know where else to ask...

    Thanks

    Try this.

    MIC-IN -> 1- AUD_MIC
    MIC-GND -> 3- AUD_MIC_BIAS (but I'm not sure on this one)
    R-OUT -> 5- AUD_FPOUT_R
    L-OUT -> 9- AUD_FPOUT_L
    EAR-G -> 2- AUD_GND

      Well that is what I would have to say, not really any other combo that you can do...

        Thanks for the input, but no luck, it didn’t work.

        I tried to attach the EAR-G connector to the HP-ON pin, but it didn’t work either.

        The microphone is working, but the earphones don’t and there is some short-circuit since the back panel sound stopped working too.
