What is the best way to burn in a new system and test the reliability? I am building a system for a friend (my second ever) and want to make sure everything is working great before I hand it over.

Here it is (complete for under $900US):

    Gigabyte 7VRXP v1.1
    Athlon XP2000+
    512MB PC2700
    VisionTek GF4 ti4200 64MB
WD special ed. 80GB 8mb cache HDD
Vantec CCK-6027D Solid Copper Heat Sink
    Samsung SyncMaster 753DF

    Good system?

    Thanks!

It's ok but be careful with the mobo as a few "C" batches were bad (check sticker on serial/parrallel port assembly). ;)

My XP1800+ though on that same board is quite happy chuggin' away @ XP2100+ 24/7 crunchin' Seti units and playin' games which is its main function all day. :thumb:

Down load some free benchmark utilities and run them. Many of them will work a system hard enough to find problems with drivers and settings. I'm sure if you search, you can still find "burn-in" utilities that will stress the hardware.

www.madonion.com has PCMark and 3DMARK which are both very good.
