I suppose after a long long winning streak it has to end sometime Beefy, besides, we want the other countries to play us again don't we? ;)

Beefy
01-14-2002, 07:03 AM
sure, we want others to play us, but we still gotta win.. :)

Kay
01-14-2002, 07:20 AM
We will, for sure, just gotta lose once in a while though, its the law :D

Beefy
01-14-2002, 07:25 AM
ONCE in a while. not twice in a while....

Kay
01-14-2002, 07:29 AM
You do have a valid point there, ok they can have one more chance then :)

Beefy
01-14-2002, 07:30 AM
i reckon after a lot of training they'll get their act together... once they get rid of the stupid rotation system anyways...

Kay
01-14-2002, 07:32 AM
One dayers are a little different though, they do try new players don't they? After all we do have to let new guys have their chance, after all they may be our cricket team of the future

Not sure, more focus needed maybe. Australia aren't used to loosing, maybe they'll pull their heads in now... :?:

Beefy
01-14-2002, 07:34 AM
But there was no Glenn McGrath (stupid suspension), no Mark Waugh..... we need a full strength side, at least til we win a few....

Kay
01-14-2002, 07:37 AM
ummm Beefy..............how many had we won in a row before these 2 one-dayers :?: Not counting draws becouse of bad weather.

Beefy
01-14-2002, 07:42 AM
that's in the past now.. :hmph: :)

Kay
01-14-2002, 08:06 AM
C'mon give them a chance........only one more............but a chance still

When's the next match?

Beefy
01-14-2002, 08:39 AM
Someone plays tomorrow.. but i'm not sure who it is...

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 09:01 AM
New zealand and South Africa play tomorrow (tuesday) in Hobart. The rotational system is to blame for the Aussies loosing. Mark Waugh should have played instead of hayden and Harvey should have played instead of Symonds

Beefy
01-14-2002, 09:04 AM
and Glenn McGrath shouldn't have gone and got himself suspended...

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 09:12 AM
Yeah that was a bit dodgey, but its good to c he takes his batting serously, LOL

Beefy
01-14-2002, 09:17 AM
he's always wanted to bat Australia to a victory himself, so that would have made things worse.. :)

Question: Did he hit the ball or not?

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 09:25 AM
I didn't actuly c it, i'd gone to bed crying by that stage, but from what i've heard he didn't

Anonymous
01-14-2002, 10:07 AM
Damn guy is too tall to be bating LOL

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 10:09 AM
Just means he plays the short balls better Tweak.

Beefy
01-14-2002, 10:19 AM
can't say i've ever seen McGrath being bouncered.. :)

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 10:29 AM
thats cos the bowler would have to break his toes to get it up that high

Beefy
01-14-2002, 10:31 AM
seen someone do that before.. actually did break his own toe.. :)

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 10:45 AM
ROFL, Thats a fair effort then

Beefy
01-14-2002, 10:52 AM
:) he forgot to let go of the ball.. not the smartest bloke around....

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 10:54 AM
ROLF, i've done that before, always a painfully embarrasing experince

Beefy
01-14-2002, 10:57 AM
:) worst i've done is slipped over on the crease... knocked over the stumps with my head, flung the balll straight back at the umpire accidently...

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 11:14 AM
Accidently my arse. U meant u umpire basher

Beefy
01-14-2002, 11:16 AM
seriously.. i had to let go off the ball so I could break my fall with my arm.. pity that my arm was flinging backwards when I let go.. :) i was about 11 at the time though, so it didn't hurt much... him or me...

Morpheus
01-14-2002, 11:30 AM
yeah i have some funny cricket stories from my younger days like the day i told the umpie that i'm not goin out cos it was a no ball.

Beefy
01-14-2002, 11:55 AM
heheh.. there's a first.. :) i saw one guy go nuts when he was called out and chased the ump around the field swinging his bat...

Wiggo
01-14-2002, 01:04 PM
Well there was one time I remember when the off strike batsman got hit in the nuts by a ball hit partner straight drove at full tilt.
Of cause that was the end of the match for him. :D

Morpheus

Albinus
01-14-2002, 04:25 PM
Well, Steve Waugh needs to pull his head in - since he has become captain the values that Mark Taylor implemented seem to have been forgotten :hmph:

He thinks that Australia is invincible - and they're not (thanks to NZ and SA proving that). Maybe these losses will make him realise that arrogance doesn't get you anywhere :cantfocus

And unusual cricket moments - I was the off-strike batsman when the opposing bowler took a double hat-trick maiden - instead of 2/47 the score went to 8/47 very quickly - then all out for 51

Beefy
01-17-2002, 06:22 PM
well, 0-3 in the series. go aussie.. wooo.. stupid *******s...

Olie
01-17-2002, 06:25 PM

Where in the hell is Liebmann? :?:

Beefy

Who the hell is Liebmann?

Albinus
01-18-2002, 09:15 AM
My opinion from the first 3 games is that the deadweights in the side go by the name Waugh - Mark can't bat and Steve can't captain :hmph:

Beefy
01-18-2002, 09:18 AM
OK then, everyone with a decent opinion, pick what you think would be the optimal team at the moment (batting order please)

Albinus
01-18-2002, 09:32 AM
OK - here goes :)

1) Adam Gilchrist
2) Matthew Hayden
3) Ricky Ponting
4) Michael Bevan
5) Steve Waugh (don't particularly like him though)
6) Andrew Symonds
7) Damien Martyn
8) Shane Warne
9) Brett Lee
10) Jason Gillespie
11) Glenn McGrath

not bad.... i'd personally think about dropping Steve. It would never happen, but he's not really a One-day batter, and he doesn't bowl much anymore.. I'd let Warney/Gilchrist co-captain the team... and bring in another fiery batter.. what's Darren Lehmann been up to these days?

Wiggo
01-18-2002, 10:40 AM
Yes Lehmann and Hayden should be in there with Gilchrist as 1st drop. ;)

Beefy
01-18-2002, 10:46 AM
i'd open with gilly and hayden.. and swap bevan to 5 and put lehmann in 4...

Albinus
01-18-2002, 10:49 AM
Well the team I suggested with Lehmann instead of Steve Waugh seems pretty good to me :thumb:

Beefy
01-18-2002, 11:10 AM
which is what i said directly beneath your post.. :)

Yeah......... but............. oh well :D

Albinus
01-19-2002, 06:24 PM
Well well well..... as I always say, the match in Brisbane that doesn't involve Australia is the better of the two - and what a match we had tonight

Couldn't watch on TV - the game wasn't a sellout so I had to listen to the radio :hmph: but NZ won with 5 balls to spare, and Chris Cairns hitting a 4 off the last ball to get his century :toung:

Good match - and the Australians have dropped Michael Bevan, Ian Harvey and someone else who I can't remember  for tomorrow's match - I think that move will backfire :cantfocus

Wiggo
01-20-2002, 09:33 AM
Matthew Hayden, Andrew Symonds and Andy Bichel have been called up for today's match but the starting lineup has yet to be decided yet. :smokin:

Looks like a winning side to me. I wonder if the selectors will take our advice... :?:

Albinus
01-20-2002, 01:31 PM
Well Steve Waugh is one of the selectors so I think not :hmph: :(

Kay
01-20-2002, 03:42 PM
Hmm i felt the same way about Mark Taylor........... just goes to show not everybody has the same opinion Al:angel:

Beefy
01-20-2002, 06:41 PM
yay.. we won!

Albinus
01-20-2002, 06:49 PM
Took them long enough

Kay
01-20-2002, 06:54 PM
it only took 4 games, what do you want from these poor boys?

Beefy
01-20-2002, 06:56 PM
a flawless series? utter annihilation of the opposition? is that really too much to ask for?

Albinus
01-20-2002, 06:57 PM
But they have never lost the first 2 games in a one-day-series EVER!

Beefy
01-20-2002, 07:00 PM
i thought they lost the first few in the first ever one day series

Albinus
