    Having trouble with my website...

Ready for the next big step, huh!

mmm, is this site going to be hosted by your ISP or what?

Basically you will log into the server with your username & password.

At that point you may or may not have a directory for your account/site residing on the server - if so, great! If not you will have to create the directory mkdir web or whatever the appropriate name for the directory in place of "web".

Then, open that folder and FTP your HTML files, images, directories etc.etc. to the folder on the server.
Be certain to keep any directory structures just as you have them on your local HDD. (as in, if your images are all located in a seperate folder, keep it exactly the same within the "web" folder.)

I haven't used BulletProof, but I have heard good about it.
But for details on the FTP program I would have to direct you to the programs help files.

Good luck to you, and let us know when you have it up for us to look at:thumb:

HINT; being as this is your first site ---- it is best to make all your HTML, images, and all file names in lower case - and be sure all references to those files in your HTML are in lower case.
Windows can be extremely forgiving about upper and lower case letters in file names in regards to HTML documents. However, when you have it up online, your server may be quite picky indeed and you'll end up with images not displayed, broken links to your pages and other hair-pulling type frustrations.
LOL and I know this from experience, believe me:D

I'm either smart or stupid...But all i did to do my website is check out a site on html and use notebook...not a big thing right...then I paid for a website no big thing either...got a ftp prog. and put in the details and tried to upload and zip, nada...I thought maybe that was wrong... But nah I was so right...the domain name wasn't there...

          Looks good so far!

Checking your source, there is definitely no linkage operational - only image sources are there ATM.

You should tip your web designer ---- ie. there is no closing tag for a paragraph command, it it a stand-alone HTML tag

Just a simple <P> where you wish to put the paragraph spacing is all that is required. </P> is a non-event.

Keep on it stormybaka, you're on the right track:thumb:

looking good for a first site :thumb:

just a few things that i've found out the hard way, and that i think you'll find useful.

if you are trying to make spaces between pictures or paragraphs, use the "newline" tag ("< br>" without the spaces or quotes) instead of the paragraph tag

also there is something wrong with the way it displays if you make your browser window smaller that full screen, as the pic will show

Thanks that was my work and it's my second site. well actually the first wasn't really a site it was just an experiment and a test on a free website host... but I did this with notebook, paint shop pro, animation shop 3 and cuteftp...
I thought of using < br > instead of < p > but hey it worked this way. Over the next couple of days when I have time I will complete the links and everything else...

<BR> will break the text and start on the next line.
<P> will skip a line before starting.
Both are stand-alone tags and require no closing tags. Though using a closing tag has no ill effect other than adding a few bytes to the source code. Perhaps not a bad idea for a beginner, that way you get in the habit of closing your tags, hmmm.

And 3 cheers to you for using NotePad

AS for the design over-run that Andy pointed out, to get away from that it might be wise to use a table to layout your page. A table using %'s sizes somewhat decent in a browser --- not flawlessly, but almost acceptably.
I don't know if you've explored tables yet, but once you get the hang of it you can really get a reasonable amount of control over your page layout.

                  Your doin' fine dood:thumb:

I have a rough knowlegde of tables but the prob I have while experimenting on the free site was that ...sorry self taught and don't know the lingo... but say you have three section.

say banner, sidemenu and the main body. I have the tables done perfect even no scrolling and all...but when I set up the sidemenu.htm and others in the index htm...for some reason the htm doesn't go to the edge of the frame which it is in...
I hope I explained that so you understand...so until I can work out why it does this. I will work without frames.

I forgot that I should also realise that it will obviously look different on other people comps and possibly include either % or best viewed at I guess the picture wasn't showing up before...

Or write it to set parameters to give a fixed page size and take the problem away all together. ;)
                        <center></center>

but as I have taken on too many things at the moment the site is only partially here.
The new banner will be up later tonight and the links should be active sometime tomorrow night...
