View Full Version : Need case with tons of 5.25" bays

I'm building a home file server and want to use many 5-in-3 HDD stackers, so I need a case with lots of exposed 5.25" bays. I find Lian Li's website difficult to use as I have to click through to each chassis to see any details. There should be a way to search based on number of drive bays, or such.

I'm aware of the PC-P80N with 12 bays, and the PC-343B with 18. The PC-A77 has 12 but doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

Any others I should consider that I haven't found yet?

Hi ScottJ97,

The PC-80N and PC-343B would be your best options for cases that have a ton of 5.25" bays. Another option if you just wanted just straight 3.5" bays with a hotswap backplane is the PC-D8000 (http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-d8000/), which has 20 easy access 3.5" bays.

G'day ScottJ97,

Start here with the PC-a77 (http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-a77/) or the PC-P80 (http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/armorsuit-pc-p80/)

Older versions of these cases PC-a77F (http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-a77f/) or PC-A79 (http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-a79/)

I am using the PC-A79 on which I have 2 Blu-Ray burners and 10 HDD's ( 2 cages of 4 HDD's {each cage of 4 HDD's take 3 normal bays} + 2 in 5.25, Bays to give me room for extra panels like card readers etc.) etc.

Depending of where you are, some of the newer ones may not be available to you, i.e. the Suppliers may not have them or are to lazy to get them in for you.
I'm in Australia and all I could get was the PC-A79.
