  • Any word on a new 16i or 24i LSI controller?

    Hello,

I was looking at the 9361 and noticed it doesn't come in a 16i or 24i version. They don't even have anything comparable to the 9271 in the 16i variety. They haven't released a new 16i card in ages. The old 16i cards have PCIe 2.0 connections, have only 512MB of cache and old processors on them. I'm considering the adaptec but would prefer a new LSI.

I don't know what you plan, but usually the LSI controllers with 16/24 ports use an internal expander to get so much ports. Using a JBOD with integrated expander would solve your problem. If you want to use all the connectors internally you need the PMC/Adaptec adpater.

LSI doesn't have an new 16 or 24 model but Areca is about to release new 16 and 24 port models based on LSI silicon.
