Basically looking for memory for asrock z97 extreme 6. Wouldlike something that OC about 10%. I'm thinking 8GB should be enough but 2x4would allow me to get 8 more if ever needed. w/some head room and up to $200 total.I guess best way to ask is what is the most bang for the buck for $200?
Thx

At first I thought, a $200 budget, that will be easy. But then I check prices, and I'm shocked, the memory market has gone crazy again! I can't believe the prices.

I was able to stock up on the Samsung "Miracle", "Green" memory, that was about $60 for 8GB at one time. Now it is no longer available. That memory is one of the few models you could put in virtually any board, and it would work fine. Not so with other memory.

Since compatibility is hard to predict, and if you don't have a collection of memory to try, using the board's compatibility list is your best bet. Takes time to plod your way through it, but at least you know it will work from day one.

Bang for the buck right now is terrible, but a few that IMO are good are:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL - Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231473)

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C11Q-16GXM - Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231669)

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C10Q-16GAB - Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231656)

Of course these are 16GB kits, try to find the same models in 8GB kits and they should be cheaper.
