    Re: The Asus M4A785D-M PRO

    Can it run 2 7850HDs ?
    No, the specs say:
    Expansion Slots
    • 1 x PCIe x16
    • 1 x PCIe x1
    • 2 x PCI

    Form Factor
    • uATX Form Factor
      9.6 inch x 9.6 inch ( 24.4 cm x 24.4 cm)

It appears to be an older budget motherboard that doesn't have enough VRM's to be able to safely power a higher end overclocked cpu.

      Re: The Asus M4A785D-M PRO

      Thank you so much.
I see you are the master of these forums...

I don't know much about tech, this is why I asked about it's abilities.

Maybe you can also help me with this one (I asked in somewhere else but wasn't answered)

My sys is 8GB ddr2, GA-X48-DS4 mobo and Intel E8400 CPU, with a single 7850HD GPU.
      1. Someone told me that the CPU bottlenecks the GPU. Is that correct ?
      2. If it is, what can solve this - OCing the CPU ?
      3. I found a used Q9550 cpu - will it solve the supposed bottle-necking issue, and moreover, can it fully support 2X7850HD (crossfire) ?

      Thank you

      Again.

        Re: The Asus M4A785D-M PRO

        You're welcome.

Thank you, but "master of the forums" is a bit much.
There are quite a few very experienced forum members but most of them only deal with newer hardware setups.
I think of myself as a guru in training, for life.

If you want the best possible performance with your HD 7850 video cards you will probably need to buy upper mid-range hardware from current generation components. Will the cost of buying a newer cpu, motherboard and memory setup be worthwhile? Maybe, maybe not.

The best upgrade for my older LGA775 systems was when I bought higher end ssd's for my boot partitions on each system.
If you are doing a lot of heavy gaming, a 240 - 256 GB (or larger) ssd is best.
Upgrading to a Q9550 was worthwhile.

I will reply shortly in your X48-DS4 E8400/Q9550 bottleneck questions in your http://forums.tweaktown.com/audio-vi...400-q9550.html thread.
