  • case lights using lights connected to cigarette adapter

hi, im having a problem with putting lights in my computer. i have a set of lights that attach into a car adapter. naturally i have to cut the adapter off, splice the wires....

i have some t-taps so i can connect to the computer supply without actually cutting the ends off the one of the power supply's cables. but now what? i know there is a piece im missing... anyways you may ignore what i have done so far, and can you tell me what i need to do to take neon lights that normally are put into a car cigarette adapter and convert it to go into my computer. my boss has it done but he didnt do it himself, so i would appreciate some help as ive run out of options

The good thing about computers and cigaret lights is they are both 12v, so cut the lighter part of and bung a molex conector on the end, if you have a slimline one the inverter is in the socket though and so there is a little more work.
They are apparently only ment to run for 3 hours at a time for the sake of heat from the inverter, so i made a cooling box for my 2 inverters.

Remember that the yellow wire is the +12volts and the black wire beside it the -12volts. ;)

I just wired up an old AT PSU to my workbench with two car ciggy lighters for use with some car type products (250psi air compressor, worklight, soldering iron, voltage stepper, etc) and testing fans and such. :)

Of course you could always use the route I chose.
I've never tried running a light with it though:?:

The reason a diamond shines so brightly is because it has many facets which reflect light.

I was going to do that, untill i realised i had every thing that pluged into a cigerate lighter in USB or already installed, and i don't smoke.

No it's that easy but it's when you have to step voltages it becomes more complicated. ;)
