  • ASRock anniversary z97 + intel g3258

    Hi.

I just OC the g3258 procesor from premium anniversary boost to 3.8 GHz.
In CPU-Z I have VCore 1.156V and in BIOS I have 1.079. What is real? CPU-Z or BIOS?

    And, it's good VCore 1.156V(in CPU-Z program) at 3.8GHz?
    And VCore 1.200V(in CPU-Z program) at 4.0GHz?

Is the VCore in the BIOS, OC Tweaker screen set to 1.079V? Or do you see 1.079V for the VCore in the H/W Monitor screen in the BIOS?

The CPU-Z VCore of 1.156V in Windows is probably right.

For a G3258 at 3.8GHz and 1.156V is pretty good. I have two G3258s, one is about the same as yours, the other needs less voltage for 4.0GHz.

But, we don't know what your BIOS settings for VCore are. Did you set the VCore yourself, or is that an Auto voltage?

I don't set the VCore , when i boot PC i can press P and i can boost my procesor in 4 methods:
      3.2 , 3.8 , 4.0 , 4.2 GHz

      4.0GHz and 1.200V it's good?

        In OC Tweaker i have:

        FVIR Configuration:
        Vcore adaptive voltage - 1.150
        CPU cache override voltage 1.150

        and in HW Monitor:
        Vcore - 1.079V
        CPU input voltage - 1.760V

        What is your oppinion?
        OC to 4.0GHz(vcore - 1.200V) or remain at 3.8GHz(vore - 1.156V) or lower ?

        PC specs:

        4GB Ram Kingston HyperX 1600MHz CL10
        ASUS Radeon HD 7770 1GB DDR5 128-bit
        ASRock Anniversary Z97
Sirtec High Power Element Bronze 400W

For 4.0GHz, or any speed, 1.20V is not at all a high VCore, that is safe and will not damage your G3258.

You could use up to 1.30V and your G3258 would be fine and not damaged.

Personally, I would not want to use over 1.30V on a G3258, but some people do, and that is probably Ok. The G3258 has not been used for very long, so we don't know if higher voltages will damage them.

I read about someone in another forum that said he tried 1.5V with his G3258, which would not OC to 4.0GHz even with that voltage. That G3258 was not immediately destroyed, but who know how long it would last at 1.5V.

            It's good for 4.0GHz?
PS: I have stock cooler on procesor.

1.20V for 4.0GHz is good, it is not to much voltage.

The only thing that matters about a CPU cooler, is what CPU temperature you have.

                35-40 in idle...

I got BSOD with message: The system has encountered an uncorrectable hardware error.

It's from CPU temperature? I need a cooler?

Probably not a temperature problem, but you might need more voltage for your CPU.

Try setting the CPU voltage to 1.22V, and see if that fixes the BSOD.

What is the CPU Input voltage set to now? For a CPU voltage of 1.20V, the CPU Input Voltage should be about 1.7V.

I set CPU voltage 1.22V, and CPU Input Voltage it's set auto.

Can you tell me your OC tweaker settings for 4.0GHz please? And, you have stock coller?
