    I had an assus a7v motherboard, 900 mhz athlon , 512 megs
    of pc133 memory,
    I upgraded to an assus a7v333 mb, athlon xp2000,
    256 megs of pc 2700
    the problem is after installing computer would not boot up
    I would get my backround with no desk top and cusor would be
    locked, I tried to reinstall windows xp pro
    and it keeps locking up at different points of install
    do I need to format hard drive and start over or
    did I miss something
    my video card is ati 8500
    sound soundcard is creative audigy platinum
    any help would be great
    I aready went thru bios and make sure everything is set
    corectly,

    If you just threw the old hard drive in the new system, then yes, you will have to format the drive and reinstall the OS. Windows needs to be able to communicate with the motherboard through the chipset. If it is set to chat with the old one, then you'll find that the KT333 is throwing it for a loop.

    If you have a new drive and/or fresh install of Windows, then reset the CMOS of the new motherboard and check the PSU to make sure you're getting enough juice.
