  • Athlon/Linux bug.

I may well be the only person here that does this but if you roll your own kernel and have an athlon/duron then you should read this piece of news at gentoo.org. It's a story about how the win2k athlon agp bug that was patched 18 months ago turns up in 2.4.x series kernels that have been compiled with K7 features enabled, there is a (temporary) fix already and Alan Cox has promised a permanent kernel source fix as well.

There's a bit more about it here http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/3/23826.html and here http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/Linux/35/175/7626960 :smokin:

So far the mem=nopentium option is working well, I've even been able to install the nvidia 1.0-2314 driver and xfree86-4.2.0 with no graphic lock ups.

Are you using a stock distro kernel or one that you've compiled yourself?
